Buhari Claims Doctors Holding Him Back in London

                                   Buhari
While some Nigerians are agitated over the absence of President Muhammadu  Buhari since  May 7, he confessed on Saturday that his personal physician was keeping him back in London, even though his health has improved tremendously.
“I wish to return home, but I have learnt to obey my  doctor‘s orders, rather than be the one issuing orders. Here, the  doctor is absolutely in charge,” he told a visiting delegation from Nigeria comprising his information managers at Abuja House in London.
The media team who made the trip, included Lai Mohammed, Minister of Information and Culture, the Senior Special Assistant on Diaspora Matters,Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity; Mallam Garba Shehu, Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, and Lauretta Onochie, Personal Assistant on Digital/Online Media.
During a conversation between the President and the team  Buhari, retorted: “I feel I could go home, but the  doctors are in charge. I’ve now learnt to obey orders, rather than be obeyed.”
On how he felt hearing different conjectures about his health, an amused President  Buhari said he was abreast of events at home closely, lauding Nigerian television stations, and the media generally, for keeping him informed.
Adesina relayed the conversations they all had in a statement he sent in on Saturday evening.
He said when the President was told that prayers were going on fervently for him, not only in Nigeria, but all over Africa, and round the world, a delighted President said,”What we did in The Gambia early this year fetched us a lot of goodwill on the African continent. It gave us a lot of latitude. I thank all those who are praying. May God reward them.”
President  Buhari sent appreciation to all Nigerians, expressing hope that he would be with them soon,”the statement added.
Last week in Abuja, protesters in their numbers ignored heavy rainfall to demand that President  Buhari, who is still receiving treatment in London for an undisclosed ailment for more than three months, either return or resign.
Buhari left the shores of Nigeria for the United Kingdom on  May 7 on what is his latest medical trip, appointing Vice President Yemi Osinbajo to act on his behalf.
But one of  Buhari‘s media aide,Garba Shehu faulted the protest, insisting that the President had not breached any constitutional provision as alleged by the protesters and their cohorts.
He said since  Buhari duly handed over power to his Vice President,Yemi Osinbajo and wrote the National Assembly, there was no basis for the protest.
According to the presidential spokesman, the protesters were only exercising their civic rights and that was the beauty of democracy.
He had said,”they are exercising their rights in line with the constitution of this country of what use or value is a democracy in which citizens cannot embark on peaceful protests so we respect their right to convene or undertake peaceful protest.
“On the second issue whether the President should resign or disclose or whatever, I think they are stepping outside the laws of this country anyone conversant with the constitution of this country will have noticed or seen that Mr President has complied 100 percent with the requirements of the constitution of this country.
“He has handed over power to the Vice President relying on the constitution and the Vice President is carrying out with the affairs of this country, he is undertaking activities of government in line with the constitution in a way that the President himself has given words of commendation. So the president has not bridged any law what he has done is perfectly in line with the constitution of this country and people are looking for things to say, I think they should do their research very well”.
Some of the protesters carried placards with inscriptions “our mumu don do”.
“Resume or resign, Nigerians say enough is enough,” one said, with others stating: “If president  Buhari cannot return to Nigeria after 90 days, then he should resign and go home”, and “ Buhari, where are you? Nigerians want full disclosure. What is wrong with our president? among others.
