AREWA, LET’S STOP WHISTLING IN THE DARK & ADMIT WE HAVE A PROBLEM

Image
If Dr. John Danfulani embraces Nnamdi Kanu, we should be challenged to reflect on its implications for Arewa’s unity.  Professor Dakum Shawn of Plateau State had previously said that, in the event of Nigeria’s dismemberment, the Christian minorities of the North would rather go with the Igbos than to politically cohabit with the Hausa/Fulani.  What becomes of the notion of a formidably united Arewa? As a political entity, the North is disturbingly becoming ever more fissiparous and vulnerably divided against itself.  John Danfulani is a metaphor of everything wrong with the North. If your son deserts you to seek comfort, companionship and love in the house of your neighbour, shouldn’t you be worried that your house is not in order?  We should be asking:  what has gone wrong? What did we do wrong? Why do we hate one another so much? Why do we fight ourselves like Kilkenny Cats on account of ethnic and religious bigotry? Was this the dream of Sardauna Sir Ahmadu Bello?

I Spent My School Fees On Parties, Says Mr. Eazi

Image
Mr. Eazi might be a music sensation today, but years back, he used to invest his school fees in organising parties and concerts .   The ‘Life Is Easy’ singer reveals that at a point, that was all he was doing, as he hardly had time for classes. Currently on tour, the singer also revealed that by his second year in the higher institution, he was already organising parties and concerts, bringing artistes from Ghana and Nigeria to his school. He also added that being around artistes, he picked a little here and there and being around comedians also saw him doing comedy and compèring, but music was the least talent he was interested in.

Biafra: The Legal, Political, Economic, and Social Questions

Image
We know very well that the toad does not run in the daytime for nothing; if it is not after something, then something must be after it. Although Nigeria is not new to agitations of all kinds, the nation has of recent been caught in a cacophony of agitations by different groups and sections of the country. In particular, these agitations have been most pronounced in the South-east, where the activities of various pro-Biafra groups have been most prominent.  There have also been loud and well-meaning voices in the South-east and all over the country strongly canvassing a restructuring of the country.                 Senator Ike Ekweremadu All these point to the fact that there is widespread dissatisfaction over how Nigeria is presently constituted and run. The South-east region, in particular, has, no doubt, been at the worst receiving end of the structural imbalances with ripples of disequilibrium in the distribution of resources and opportunities since the end of the civil war in

Spme group of Culties Turn Akwa Ibom To War Zone

Image
Cult Group In a very unprecedented scale, cultism has enveloped many local government areas of Akwa Ibom State in the last twelve months, killing, maiming and displacing many rural dwellers. As at the last count, in Etim Ekpo, one of the leading Local Government Areas plagued with cultism in the state, not less than 54 persons have been reportedly killed either during cult clashes or as scapegoats during demonstrations by men of the underworld. Ukanafun shares a common boundary with Etim Ekpo and is obviously one of the harbours of cultists, kidnappers, hired assassins and perpetrators of all forms of crimes, all taking root in cultism. It was about the same area that the immediate past Commissioner of Police, CP Donald Awuna was reported to have identified 40 cult groups. Giving a background of the history of cultism in both LGAs which have roots into every other local government areas across the state, an indigene, who pleaded anonymity, said Etim Ekpo and Ukanafun LGAs are h

BREAKING: Fayose, Wike, Four Others, Set To Board Commercial Flight To London, To Find Out If Buhari Can Really Talk

Image
The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, and Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, are leading a delegation to London, in search of ailing President, Muhammadu Buhari. According to a report, the visit is being arranged by the office of the National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Munguno. Other Governors alleged to embark on the journey are: Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Dave Umahi (Ebonyi), Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), and Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo). A Governor told Punch Newspaper: “Our colleagues are going to London to see the President. But I’m not happy that someone like the Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, or his Rivers State counterpart, Mr. Nyesom Wike, are not on the delegation.” “Though there are PDP Governors on the delegation, we know ourselves, and also know those we know are truly part of the opposition, and those close to the ruling All Progressives Congress. “The Governors had been directed to be at the Presidential Wing of the Nnamdi Azikwe Inter

u Biafra is a foreign name, whereas the name of Nigeria originated from the River Niger

Image
Editor's note: In this opinion piece, writer, Ekenyerengozi Michael Chima, traces the origin of the name 'Biafra' which he claimed has no origin in the Igbo language. He claimed that pro-Biafra activist, Nnamdi Kanu, and members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) are ignorant about the Igbo origin. When I say that Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the Radio Biafra broadcaster and self acclaimed leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), and his followers are intellectually retarded, they will feel insulted and provoked. But their intellectual ignorance is a fact and not an insult. The fact that a group of Igbos are barking like dogs and calling themselves a name that is not in the #Igbo dictionary and did not originate from Igbo tribe is a disgrace and a shame. The name of Biafra is a foreign name, whereas the name of Nigeria originated from the River Niger. From archeological discoveries and etymological studies, there is nothing linking Igbos to the Jews. Northerners will lose if Nigeria breaks up – Ezeife

Image
A former Governor of Anambra State, Chief Chukwuemeka Ezeife, Friday, warned that Nigeria might be heading towards extinction if the country is not urgently restructured. He said the northern region stands to feel the pain if the nation eventually breaks apart. He made this remark in Benin City at the 20th Professor Wole Soyinka annual lecture series organized by the National Association of Seadogs on Friday. Ezeife noted that only restructuring would free Nigeria from the plot by the British government to keep the country underdeveloped. He urged Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to convoke a conference that would discuss the country. “Every honest Nigerian knows we are at the brink of extinction. Nigeria will cease to exist if we do not restructure. It is a joke for people to think we should not restructure. “Northerners will loose most from the disintegration of Nigeria. We need to go back to the agreed Nigeria. Make the six zones federating units. Allow states in the zon

Image
Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, has ordered for the immediate sack and replacemement of the suspended Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir David Lawal, and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ayo Oke. This was made known through the yet to be submitted three-man Presidential Panel report, headed by Osinbajo, that probed the alleged infractions against Babachir and Oke, within two weeks. Other members of the Investigation Panel are: the National Security Adviser, General Babagana Monguno (rtd); and the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami. Indeed, Nnamdi Kanu Was Right About Joe Igbokwe

Image
Editor’s Note: The agitation for Biafra Republic is real, however the stakeholders on the issue have been divided along different lines of belief. In this opinion by Charles Ogbu, he examines fight for Biafra by Nnamdi Kanu and the predisposition of his fellow kinsmen especially Joe Igbokwe to the Biafran cause. Reading Joe Igbokwe’s tales of his personal wars and woes, I was left wondering whether to simply pause and die laughing or die crying. In his bid to prove to Maazi Nnamdi Kanu that he is not a slave, he ended up writing the story of his long years of slavery to the Tinubu dynasty. How poetically ironic!! He was called a hungry Lagos slave and he responded by listing his long years of “serving” Tinubu for 8 years, Fashola for 8 years and Ambode for 2 years and still counting. And how he got married and had all his kids in Lagos after abject poverty left him traumatized for years. In all his sordid tales, he didn’t mention anyway his Lagos sojourn benefited his Nnewi h

Why are cults so popular among the youths nowadays? What are the main types of cultism in Nigeria and what symbols do they have? Let’s look through the essence of each of them! What is cultism? It is possible that lot of people don’t even know that there is a list of cults in Nigeria, which usually thrive at universities and even outside of campus. The main reasons of why some people become members of such movements are the lust for the power, riches, and prestigious status in the society. According to the Oxford Dictionary, cultism can be described as a religious or social group whose beliefs are secret, individualistic, and esoteric. Actually, cultism involves carrying out some ritualistic practices. Usually, cultists share some common objectives and ideas. So, they are unknown to the society and also, some cult leaders’ true intentions are unknown even to the members of the particular cult.   So, let’s summarize the main characteristics of cultism: 1) it is a spiritual

Saraki Dumps APC ?

Image
President of the Senate, Dr Bukola Saraki, said contrary to insinuations, he was a full member of All Progressives Congress and remained there “body and spirit’’. Saraki said at a Forum in Abuja that the speculations were part of the mischievous activities against him and urged the public the discountenance them. He said that those spreading such information were doing so as propaganda for the Peoples Democratic Party. Saraki, however, blamed the development on inactivity in the APC, saying that the party’s leadership had failed to focus it properly. He, therefore, charged the National Executive Committee of the party to wake up to its responsibility as it had remained without activities for too long. The president of the senate said that the docility in the party was giving room for unfounded allegations against some of its members. According to him, if the party had organised regular NEC meetings and other caucus meetings, there would have been enough activities to determ

An online platform [Not DAILY POST] had it that PDP has “quietly” settled for Atiku as Presidential candidate and Fayose as the Vice President. But reacting to the report, Fayose through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka said it is one of “the many mystery” of the platform. Speaking with DAILY POST, Olayinka said his principal had no knowledge of such decision by the former ruling party. Olayinka said his principal, who is the Chairman of the PDP Governors Forum will in October officially announce his president ambition. Biafra is constitutional and must come! -

Image
Leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Mr. Nnamdi Kanu, on Wednesday, tackled the Acting President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, for declaring the Biafran agitation as unconstitutional. Kanu, in a world press conference he held through his team of lawyers in Abuja, maintained that Osinbajo’s view about Biafra was “patently misconceived and inherently faulty”, despite his rank as a Senior Advocate of Nigeria. In a statement signed by his lawyer, Mr. Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Kanu, insisted that “extra judicial remarks” Osinbajo made before the Igbo Council of Traditional Rulers, in reference to Biafran agitation, was offensive to section 2 of the 1999 constitution, as amended. The statement read in part: “We are presently drifting into the narrative that had hitherto kept our client in unlawful incarceration for 18 months, in clear breach of positive orders of court that directed for his unconditional release. Unhealthy interference by the Executive Arm in the matter before the Court
