PRESIDENT of Chocolate City Entertainment, Audu Maikori, who regained his freedom, weekend, after his detention by the Nigeria Police, has attributed his release on bail to the immense support he got from well-meaning Nigerians. Maikori was reportedly arrested in Lagos, Friday, by a team of policemen attached to Inspector-General monitoring and intelligence team for misinforming the public via his tweets on the Southern Kaduna crisis after he was allegedly misinformed by one of his staff. Lagos – The Bus Conductors Association of Nigeria (BCAN) has said that the proposed ban of yellow buses (Danfos) by the Lagos State Government would assist in professionalising their jobs. The National President of the association, Mr Israel Adeshola, on Thursday in Lagos said that the development would have positive impacts on the conductors’ job in the state. “The ban is going to have positive impacts on our members; it will promote and elevate our jobs. “Members of the society have already categorised conductors as touts and illiterates. “But with the new government policy on transportation system, people will have to get approval from political leaders and traditional rulers before becoming conductor in Lagos State. “There is no way government can take such decision and sideline over 6000 registered members of BCAN in the state. “I am sure we are not going to be marginalised in the upcoming system, we are going to be involved in making Lagos a Mega City,’’ he said.

Air Chief Alex Badeh, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) under former President Goodluck Jonathan was found with the sum of $1million and land documents, a prosecution witness has told a court in Abuja. Professor Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s acting president, has reportedly met with state governors and some ministers in the Muhammadu Buhari cabinet inside Aso Rock. The Nation reports that the meeting concerned the Presidential Task Force on Rice and Wheat, but that it held behind closed-doors at the Presidential Villa, Abuja on Monday, February 20. The report quoted the Kebbi state governor, Bagudu Atiku Abubakar, as saying that the forum reviewed the wheat and rice programme of the country. It also discussed how to support states to increase wheat production. President Muhammadu Buhari has revealed that he needs a longer time to rest, thus putting paid to speculations and claims by top government officials that he is actually fit and healthy. The president said this on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 saying the rest is deserved following the results from the series of medical tests he carried out in the United Kingdom where he is on vacation. PDP Chieftain commits Suicide in Abuja (PHOTOS)

A man believed to be in his early 60s said to be a Chieftain of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dr Isaac Ojukwu, has set himself ablaze in a rented hotel apartment in Nyanya, a satellite town of Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT). The incident which occurred early hours of Thursday, also saw the entire hotel burnt to ground level, even as the deceased was equally burnt beyond recognition. The late Dr Ojukwu was a member of the PDP, Diaspora unit. He was said to have handled the diaspora unit of the Party in Germany, Denmark among other foreign countries. Document and other files found in his luggage rescued in the hotel indicated a strong connection to the Party hierarchy, some of which showed he might be connected to a serving Governor in a PDP controlled state.
