IPOB Reacts To Nigerian Army Checkpoints In South-East

Members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) have expressed rage over recent activities of officers of the Nigerian army in the South-East, particularly in Abia State. Evritiinaija understands that the proscribed pro-Biafra group expressed their displeasures as a followup reaction to the killing of a commercial motorcycle operator by a happy-trigger soldier in Aba. Recall that the motorcyclist was allegedly killed over his refusal to pay N100 daily illegal toll at Ohanze, in Obingwa LGA of the State. In their reactions, the IPOB members have however called for the immediate dismantling of multiple military checkpoints across South-East. The proscribed IPOB made this known in a press release signed by the Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful. The statement by the IPOB claimed that the Ndigbo were being punished by the Northern-dominated army for opposing the controversial Ruga settlement. The Vice Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2019 election, Peter Obi, has rejected reports that the United States denied him a visa to the country. The former Anambra State governor made this known in a statement through his media adviser, Valentine Obienyem on Saturday. He revealed that Peter Obi was presently in the US on the invitation of highly-placed officials. Mohammed Yakoob, a sibling of Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, says the leader of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria (IMN) is responsible for his misfortune. El-Zakzaky and his wife have been in detention since 2015 when some of his followers clashed with soldiers in Zaria, Kaduna state. Many IMN members have lost their lives after the incident while others are languishing in detention. A prominent Islamic scholar, Dr Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gumi, has declared that Nigeria will disintegrate and that the North will suffer most compared to the other regions.
