Obasanjo vs The Awujale: I Stand by OBJ

Image
Well, you may ask what concerns me as a full-blooded Akwa Ibom man in this matter. After all it is a battle between two well-fed people who do not really have any problem in life apart from writing books and calling each other rumour-monger and lair. Before I state my reason for supporting OBJ in this matter, let me give you guys a summary of the matter. You see, the Awujale had written a book and in that book he had said some things about OBJ regarding his relationship with his cousin Dr. Mike Adenuga. That one, person no dey ever see am. He wrote that book long time ago o and I guess OBj was on one of his numerous trips and as such never got around to reading it or maybe he was busy playing his favourite game of AYO so he missed it. But years later some busy body now decided to bring up that particular chapter where the Awujale had mentioned my lord in not very flattering manner and all hell broke loose. Names have been flying around and letters have been exchanging hands and ev

Nigeria’s Deadly Monsters

Image
By Femi Fani-Kayode When you take everything away from a man or a people, including their humanity, their loved ones, their land, their possessions, their faith, their God, their self-respect, their identity and their dignity and you put them and theirs under the fire and sword morning, day and night you cannot expect them not to voice their pain and not to scream and a shout. And when the screaming and shouting goes unheeded, you cannot expect them not to hit back and attempt to break the yoke of torment, subjugation, tyranny and slavery. No matter how powerful you are and how long you have been killing them and all that are theirs, one day they will rise up, pull you down from your giddy heights and cut open your throats. If history teaches us nothing else, it teaches us this. The morale of the tale is as follows: mind how you insult and mock your victims and those that you treat with contempt, kill at will and hold in bondage because one day their time will come. It is in thi

Image
Twenty four hours to its promised date of return, MMM, one of the world’sbiggest Ponzi schemes, which caused panic by freezing the accounts of about three million Nigerians a month ago, has resumed operation. The controversial social community financing scheme announced its return in Nigeria yesterday, calling on interested persons to resume their investment on the platform. The site of the scheme had been open and running since yesterday that the operators officially announced that it had come back. Signs that the scheme might return as promised began to show when on January 11 ahead of the promised date for resumption, MMM guiders held a meeting and shared their resolutions on the group’s Facebook page, where it was stated, among others, that that t

Why I put ladies on dog leash –Pretty Mike

Image
Nonye Ben-Nwankwo and Ademola Olonilua  It came as a rude shock to so many when some pictures hit the Internet earlier in the week where socialite and club owner, Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as  Pretty Mike, chained some girls on a dog leash and took them to different events in Lagos. Even as he had reportedly apologised publicly for his actions  on Thursday, after the Lagos State Government had got him arrested and made him sign an undertaking that he would never do such debasing stuff again, the socialite,  in an exclusive chat with Saturday Beats, said that there was a mission statement behind his action, saying he was shocked that Nigerians had already crucified him before hearing his side of the story. He said, “I have done it twice and let us not make it look as if it is something I have been doing all the time. The two times I have done it were weddings where I was part of the groomsmen which means that I have a personal relationship with the bride and groom. The ov

Expectedly, busybodies have also alleged the actress’ husband was sleeping with Tonto’s personal assistant. A fan online, simply identified as, Gentle said, “well…she brought it on herself. I really don’t have time to be critical of people’s relationships and social media obsession, but Tonto’s case is funny. She passed through so much before she finally got married. Because of the unne

Woman catches her husband cheating, burns his lover's clothes

Image
-A man caught in an alleged love triangle reacted to being 'caught' in the most sobering way -His wife burned the other woman's clothes, then he punished his wife for that The common perception among women is that eventually, all men cheat. More so, with house helps, bar maids and colleagues (during imaginary work related trips). Most men will not think twice about cheating especially if they have already tied another woman down. In this era of 'side chick', most women have learnt to live with the idea that their man will always have a woman on the side, and as long as he's providing for her and their kids, she can turn a blind eye to the fact. However, not for one woman in Kisumu county, Kenya, whose wrath came to bite her in the behind. The unnamed Kisumu woman was exposed on social media for revenging against her husband’s alleged 'side chick'. According to the woman’s neighbor of six years, the wife picked the housemaid’s clothes, threw th

Eight others were injured. Although military authorities denied the latest incursion of the terrorists, less than two weeks after Boko Haram’s flag was presented to President Muhammadu Buhari as a mark of the military’s total subjugation of the fanatical religious sect, THISDAY sources said Cinki Gundu is now being used as the terrorists’ operational base. “Outright falsehood,” Maj-Gen Lucky Irabor, the Theatre Commander of Operation Lafiya Dole, the military taskforce clearing the North-east of the insurgents, told THISDAY in a text message last night.
