Nigeria President of the Senate, Dr. Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has commiserated with the government and affected communities in Plateau State over a recent attack in the state, which left no fewer than 15 people dead. He called on the security agencies in the country to intensify efforts to protect the people and nab criminals perpetrating violence across the country. Thirty six out of the 40 members of the Lagos State House of Assembly on Saturday endorsed an aspirant in the Lagos All Progressives Congress (APC) gubernatorial primaries, Jide Sanwo-Olu. According to a statement by the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Strategy and Security, Adefunmilayo Tejuoso, the decision was taken at a parliamentary meeting of the lawmakers which took place at Lateef Jakande auditorium of the House on Saturday, a day before the governorship primaries of the party. “The lawmakers stated that they were in agreement with the leadership of the party and the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) which had earlier endorsed Sanwo-olu for the governorship ticket,” the statement said. The meeting was chaired by Mudashiru Obasa, the House Speaker, and the lawmakers duly signed the statement announcing the decision. Adams Oshiomhole, the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, has debunked insinuations that a deal involving money and political concessions were made with Sen. Iyiola Omisore of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) to support the party. Oshiomhole, while addressing newsmen on Friday in Abuja, said the people of Osun made their free choice by voting the APC candidate, Gboyega Oyetola, at the election. He, however, added that the APC had some agreements with Omisore which bothered on policies and the welfare of the people of the state, but certainly did not give him money as was being speculated. The Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, on Thursday met some labour leaders at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, to try and resolve the issues that led to the ongoing warning strike by workers. Labour unions, had on Wednesday directed workers to go on strike over the failure of the Federal Government to reconvene the tripartite committee on the new minimum wage. The workers are demanding between N45,000 to N65,000 minimum wage. Currently, N18,000 is the minimum wage in the country. Kyari said on Thursday that he called the meeting to ascertain what stalled the negotiation on minimum wage. Kidnapper Cries: "I never knew that my victim would escape"

The Niger State Police Command has apprehended one Shuaibu Abdullahi, 22, for allegedly kidnapping Bello Umar of Vunu Village in the Lavun Local Government Area of the state. The suspect was trailed and arrested by the police detectives attached to Lemu Division on a tip-off. The suspect had sometime in August invaded the village in collaboration with three members of his gang who are now at large and kidnapped Umar for ransom. It was gathered that the suspect alongside the three fleeing members of his gang, who were armed with weapons abducted their victim and took him into a nearby bush.
