The United States has condemned the attack on the Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi. It also said it would continue to support the Federal Government’s efforts to counter the terrorist group. While briefing journalists on Thursday, spokesperson for the US Department of State, Ms Heather Nauert, said, “We are still trying to get all the details about that [Boko Haram attack], but we want to mention that we condemn in the strongest possible terms the terror attack on a school earlier this week in northeastern Nigeria. “The choice of targets, including schools, markets and places of worship, reflect the brutality of terrorist organisations. The victims of the attacks were girls who were simply seeking an education. We continue to support Nigeria’s efforts to counter the terror group.” She added, “We also support Nigeria’s efforts to enable more than two million (persons) displaced in the Lake Chad region to return home safely. “The United States continues to provide humanit

The development comes as the main opposition party stated that Nigeria will become the headquarters of poverty by the end of this month. He said: “Since 2015, more than sixteen (16) million Nigerians have lost their jobs. According to the World Poverty Clock, an organization that assesses poverty across the globe using credible data obtained from the United Nations (UN), Intenational Monetary Fund (IMF) and World Bank, Nigeria would become the extreme poverty capital of the world by the end of this month. It will overtake India as the country with the most people in extreme poverty. “This demonstrates how badly the APC Federal Government has mishandled Nigeria, an economy they took over

IPOB Blasts Abia Gov Over Comment On Nnamdi Kanu

Image
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has faulted statements credited to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia State in which the governor declared its leader, Nnamdi Kanu as a “liar”. According to a statement signed by IPOB Spokesman, Emma Powerful, Ikpeazu had accused Nnamdi Kanu of reneging on a promise he made with South East governors including himself. However, the group queried the time, venue, and purpose of the purported meeting. The group accused the governor of attempting to cover up his underperformance by using Kanu’s name to launder his own image. He said, “Over the coming days and weeks, Okezie Ikpeazu will be methodically and systematically shredded publicly for his blatant lies against our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu and the great IPOB movement he leads. “It will be in his best interest and that of his Northern handlers to publish whatever material at his disposal that will lend credence to his assertions, chiefly that our leader Mazi Nnamdi Kanu reneged on agreements re

President Muhammadu Buhari, the time to resign from office is now.

Image
To critics of President Muhammadu Buhari, the time to resign from office is                              now..                          He should follow the footsteps of former South African President Jacob Zuma. But others say that those behind the call are the corrupt who are uncomfortable with the President’s anti-graft crusade. They argue against putting Buhari and Zuma on the same scale, writes JOESPH JIBUEZE. THE support base for President Muhammadu Buhari’s anti-graft battle swelled yesterday with senior lawyers and activists berating those urging the president to take a cue from former South African President Jacob Zuma who was forced to quit office last week. They said there was no basis to compare Buhari, who is fighting corruption, to Zuma, who resigned on account of alleged corruption. “It was paradoxical that in Nigeria, the president is being asked to leave office for fighting corruption”, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) Director Prof Ishaq Akintola said in a statement

According to Ikpeazu, ”Nnamdi Kanu hates South East governors, he does not want to associate with us despite the love we have for him. ”Whenever you talk with Nnamdi Kanu, he always speaks from both sides of his mouth, he is not a straightforward person . ”He never consulted me before taking any action, although we all agreed that Igbos are being marginalised but

Blackface mentioned some of the Causes that led to the breakup of the group (Plantashun Boiz)

Image
In the late 90’s the defunct music group Plantashun Boiz held Nigerians by the jugular with their series of hit songs. The group eventually parted way in 2004 and one of the members of the group, Black Face has come out to say other members of the group were simply ambitious and selfish. The defunct music group had Innocent Idibia, aka 2face; Ahmedu Augustine Obiabo, aka Blackface, and Chibuzor Oji, aka Faze. Though the group came back together in 2007 to record a third album, Blackface and 2face can right now be described as bitter enemies. Blackface has always said he was unfairly treated by his former group member. Blackface mentioned some of the factors that led to the demise of the group. According to him, one member of the group was responsible for the breakup as he was only interested in himself alone: “Artistes are like footballers. If there is no love in a team, they cannot play together. Once you are in a group, you must consider the interest of everyone in it.

Nnamdi Kanu (the leader of IPOB) relief at trial from that of the other three defendants initially charged with him.

Image
In a dramatic twist on Tuesday, a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja ‘severed’ or judicially separated the trial of Nnamdi Kanu (the leader of IPOB) from that of the other three defendants initially charged with him. The severance was pursuant to an application by motion on notice filed by Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, counsel to one of the three sureties, Jewish Chief Priest, Shalum Ben Madu. Addressing the court, Aloy Ejimakor contended that his client wished to be heard first on the motion he filed before any trial can arise. Ejimakor further stated that his motion is supported by new facts and points of law that required an adjournment of Kanu’s trial and a separate hearing. The severance means that Kanu’s trial has been effectively put on hold until issues surrounding his whereabouts since September last year are resolved. And through the new legal maneuver made by Barrister Ejimakor, it also now appears that Kanu’s trial has taken second place to the issue of his fate since aft

Image
Lagos — Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, has said he should be examined by a psychiatrist, if he joins the Coalition for Nigeria Movement, CNM, spear-headed by ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo. Obasanjo recommended the coalition in a letter he wrote to President Muhammadu Buhari last month. The elder statesman had asked Nigerians to rally round the movement, saying neither the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, nor the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, could give Nigeria the leadership it deserved. But speaking in an interview with BBC Yoruba yesterday, Soyinka said the coalition was not meant for someone like him. "Me? Obasanjo would establish a group and I will become a member of such group? That means they should get a psychiatrist to examine me," Soyinka said. He also spoke about the letters which Obasanjo and former military President, Ibrahim Babangida, addressed to Buhari, saying people should get suspicious "when these soldiers speak" because t

It was gathered that the housewife, a native of the Ashama community in Aniocha North local government area of Delta state, had been married for the past six years and has two children. MASSOB- We Now Know That Obasanjo Hates Ojukwu, Igbos

Image
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) has described former President Olusegun Obasanjo as a hater of the Igbo nation. The group made this known in a statement signed by its leader, Comrade Uchenna Madu and released on Monday. Madu stated that the former president’s interactions with the Igbo nation were “camouflaged and hypocritical”. He said Obasanjo confirmed his hatred of the Igbo nation by his failure to attend the burial ceremonies of Chukwuemeka Ojukwu and Dr Alex Ekwueme, two highly-respected Igbo leaders. The statement read, “Obasanjo knows the truth that General Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu was right in all his activities that involved Biafra, he knows the truth that Ndigbo were schemed out of political reality in Nigeria, “Obasanjo knows this truth that he hates Biafra and her people, he also knows the truth that all his dealings with Ndigbo are all camouflaged and hypocritical. “Olusegun Obasanjo openly without shame proved his

Tinubu: Nigeria still needs Obasanjo, Babangida, others

Image
Sir: The news credited to the All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the effect that former President Olusegun Obasanjo and General Ibrahim Badamosi .Babangida should retire from politics or rather allow the nation to move forward by keeping quite is to me a ‘tongue in cheek’ comment. More than any Nigerian living, Olusegun Obasanjo, Ibrahim Babangida, General Yakubu Gowon, President Muhammadu Buhari and General T Y Danjuma have put their lives on the line for the survival of this nation at critical stages. It is therefore preposterous for Tinubu to now ask the duo to retire. In actual fact, they are the fathers of the nation and their opinion on any issue should be taken seriously. The two equally has their own foible while in power, apart from the first republic, the tenure of the duo are unmatched by any other in terms of achievement recorded by the nation. What I want to bring out is that they are experienced leaders whose experience is ne
