2019: Arewa youths explain why they will stop Buhari’s re-election bid

Image
The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum, AYCF, has stated that people like President Muhammadu Buhari are no longer needed to lead Nigeria. They spoke through its President, Shettima Yerima in an interview with the Sun, adding that the currently administration has exhausted its ideas and has nothing more to offer. Yerima said come 2019 general elections, youths will no longer waste their time on old politicians like Buhari. He told Sun, “The position is that we really do not need people like Buhari in 2019. “It is now clear that the youth would no longer be allowed to be used by any politician any more. Anybody above 60 should go and rest peacefully or go back to the farm or do something differently for himself. That is my position on the issue. “Of course, it is obvious that this government cannot do anything from now till the next one year. Already two years down the line, we have not seen anything. “I do not see the government doing any magic or performing any miracle in the

Buhari, Benue will judge you

Seventy-three Nigerians were buried in Benue on the 11th of January 2018 – a day some in the state will regard forever in infamy. It was a mass burial of persons killed in the most brutal ways, but there was the dignity of proper coffins and the accompaniment of sincerely grieving bereaved relatives. These were Nigerians killed under the watch of a Federal Government that had to know such a carnage was in the making. In their death, as in life, there was the clear aversion by the authorities to be identified with them. Amidst the many teary eyes, none was of any person from the Buhari government as an official representative. Nobody came from Aso Rock to commiserate directly with these people whose hope in government has been crushed to the size of fine sands. Instead, Muhammadu Buhari, Nigeria’s president, was, at the time when the funeral was ongoing, sending congratulations to the winner of his 2017 Season’s Greeting Card design competition. Empathy should have required a F

Southern leaders to Buhari: Restructure Nigeria now

Image
southern leaders have called on President Muhammadu Buhari to restructure the country now, if he still desires Nigeria to be one. The leaders, who made this demand at the Handshake Across the Niger Summit organised by Nzuko Umunna, at Base Event Centre, Enugu State, cut across the South West, South East, South South and the Middle Belt. The leaders, in unison, bemoaned how the demand for restructuring has been rejected by the Buhari administration while Fulani herdsmen have continued to unleash mayhem and terror on southern Nigeria. The leaders agreed that Yoruba and Igbo should bury all acrimonies and come together, again, to fight their relegation as ‘second class’ citizens in the country. President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief John Nnia Nwodo, who led Ndigbo to the summit said: “The Igbo/Yoruba alliance, which has catalysed the Southern Leadership Forum and the Middle Belt Union, is a bold statement that unity is possible in Nigeria.” Nwodo disclosed that their irrevocab

2018 prophecy: What God told me about Buhari, Super Eagles, Igbo presidency, others – Bishop Eze

Image
Founder and General Overseer of the Zion Heritage and Miracle Ministries, Bishop Okwudili Eze, has revealed what God told him about 2018. Bishop Eze’s revelation carries what God told him concerning the Super Eagles of Nigeria, and the 2018 World Cup in Russia; the Nigerian currency, the Naira; Nigeria’s leading political party, the All Progressives Compress, APC; the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP; and the much talked about Igbo presidency. The cleric also made predictions concerning mysterious assassinations of political heavyweights in the country. He talked about a clash between the Governor of Kaduna State and a former Governor of Lagos State and national leader of the APC, Bolaji Ahmed Tinubu. He also warned that the Governor of Abia State, Okezie Ikpeazu, may lose his mantle as the governor of the state to the APC. Read full prophecy: “There shall be some signs of economic recovery in Nigeria not because of the government policies but because of the mercies of God tha

It’s Unwise for Buhari to Compare Killings by Fulani Herdsmen Under Him and Jonathan;

Image
Angry reactions have trailed the statement by the presidency comparing the number of people killed by Fulani Herdsmen under the Goodluck Jonathan administration with those already killed under the present administration. The longstanding face off between farmers and Fulani herdsmen in Benue state assumed a new dimension in early January with cases of successive killings by Fulani militia in the past few days. The killings having heightened with a death toll of 80 persons, fuelled series of speculations on alleged unresponsiveness on the part of the Federal Government to take adequate steps. Some Nigerians have insinuated that the slow action of the federal government is caused by an affinity of the President to the Fulani stock of Nigeria. The Presidential spokesperson, Mr. Femi Adesina, while debunking such claims said it was very unkind of Nigerians to link the killings to the president owing to his background as a Fulani. He, however, drew the ire of Nigerians when he made re

Fulani Herdsmen: IPOB attacks Buhari, BBC, CNN others over killings in Nigeria

Image
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Wednesday accused the British Broadcasting Corporation, Cable Network News, Al Jazeera and other foreign media of conspiracy of silence in the reportage of killings by herdsmen in most Nigerian communities. The group also blamed the President Muhammadu Buhari led administration for taking the continuous killings of the Fulani herdsmen as normal. IPOB’s Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, in a statement said the media houses’ under reportage of the killings was part of the international conspiracy to subdue non-Muslims. IPOB, however, condemned the recent killings in Rivers and Benue states, adding that the group wondered why the Federal Government was reluctant to deploy soldiers in Benue, Taraba and Kaduna states where herdsmen had killed scores of people. It said, “The killing of the innocent has become the norm under this present All Progressives Congress government led by Major General Muhammadu Buhari. “More shocking i

Taraba governor explains Why herdsmen are killing people

Image
Killer-herdsmen have extended their bloody campaign to Taraba State, killing 55 people in Lau Local Government Area. About 200 homes and huge piles of foodstuff were destroyed. Many people are missing in the attacks, which began last weekend. Twenty-five bodies were recovered and given a mass burial on Tuesday when reporters and Bala Dan Abu, a media assistant to Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku, visited the area. Policemen and soldiers cordoned off the area as the burial was hurriedly done by angry youths amid fear of the attackers coming for them. “You know, I don’t like witnessing a funeral; what more, a mass burial like this,” Bala said, fighting back tears. The affected area was deserted like a ghost town. Policemen and soldiers were on patrol. Those buried were mostly children, women and elderly persons. Most of the bodies were recovered from burnt houses, bush paths and farmlands. The bodies had swollen. Sources said some of the victims tried to escape from the marau

Benue State Government Reacts After Being Accused Of Sponsoring Militia Group Against Herdsmen

Image
The Benue State Government has denied arming militia groups to defend the people against the marauding Fulani herdsmen in the state. Benue State Government Reacts After Being Accused Of Sponsoring Militia Group Against Herdsmen his comes after troops of 93 Battalion of the Nigerian Army stationed in Takum, Taraba State, arrested nine well-armed militia from Benue who alleged that they are members of a government sponsored security volunteers. They were arrested at Arufu, a boundary town between Taraba and Benue States on Tuesday. Reacting to the report, Tever Akase, media aide to governor Ortom said the story was false and misleading. He called on the general public to disregard report.  We read a news report insinuating that some youths arrested by the military at Arufu, a town between Benue and Taraba States are armed militia sponsored by the Benue State Government to defend the territory of the State against invaders. We wish to state categorically that the Benue State Go

According to the Daily Post, Yusuf acquired the motorcycles for him and his friend Bashir Gwandu back in June 2017, buying two at N57 million each from Germany. The accident, which left Yusuf needing brain surgery, resulted as a collision between Yusuf and Gwandu. The website adds: “Our source revealed that upon the purchase of the two power bikes, they were kept at Gwandu’s residence, located in Gwarinpa District, in the Bwari Local Government Area. “Yusuf, who has three operatives attached to him from the Department of State Service (DSS) reportedly struck a deal with his security details, who allowed him to always sneak out in the night for racing at Gwandu’s place.” “The operatives, against their pattern of operation and procedure of duty perpetually rolled out their daily report

2019: What Atiku, PDP’s desperation to remove Buhari will do to Nigeria – Junaid Muhammed

Image
Junaid Mohammed, Second Republic lawmaker, has asserted that the desperation of former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar to replace President Muhammadu Buhari in 2019 will lead Nigeria into a “violent confusion if care is not taken.” The second Republic lawmaker made the claim while noting that the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is also desperate to return to power in 2019, a situation that may throw the country into chaos. Speaking with The Nation, Muhammed also stressed that Buhari must not submit himself for re-election because he has no “solid reasons to persuade” Nigerians to vote for him in the next election. He said, “I believe democracy is a very rational institution. I believe no leader should present himself for election or re-election, unless he has solid reasons to persuade those who are voting that, he is equal to the task, that his leadership will be good for the country, that he can be trusted and who can. So, with these criteria, I am not persuaded that Buhari is q

Our Daily Bread 10 January 2018 Devotional – Growing a Servant’s Heart

Image
Topic: Growing a Servant’s Heart [Our Daily Bread 10th Wednesday January, 2018] Read: Luke 22:24–30, Bible in a Year: Genesis 25–26; Matthew 8:1–17 I am among you as one who serves. Luke 22:27 It was a long day at work. But when I got home, it was time to start my “other” job: being a good dad. Greetings from my wife and kids soon became, “Dad, what’s for dinner?” “Dad, can you get me some water?” “Dad, can we play soccer?” I just wanted to sit down. And even though part of me really wanted to be a good dad, I didn’t feel like serving my family’s needs. That’s when I saw it: a thank-you card my wife had received from someone at church. It pictured a bowl of water, a towel, and dirty sandals. Across the bottom were these words from Luke 22:27: “I am among you as one who serves.” That statement of Jesus’s mission, to serve those He came to seek and save (Luke 19:10), was exactly what I needed. If Jesus was willing to do the dirtiest of jobs for His followers—like scrubbing His

Declare Herdsmen Terrorists - Benue Governor To Federal Government

Image
What is your reaction to the violent protests over the New Year killings? What started as a very peaceful demonstration by the students of Benue State turned into a rowdy situation, but I understand; I can feel the anger of the people. Even as a leader, I had to control myself when I saw the level of damage that was done against my people. But in situations like this, the simple message I try to pass to the youths and everybody in Benue State is that they should remain calm. This government is proactive and will continue to ensure the security of lives and property. The promulgation of open grazing law was an initiative of the Benue people and it’s a very popular law. For us, that is the only way we can ensure peace for farmers and herdsmen to coexist and live together. Are you saying the killings were as a result of the anti-open grazing law your administration enacted recently? Ranching is the global best practice and there is no alternative. I want to appeal to my people to

Stop Pampering Fulani Herdsmen, Shehu Sani Tells President Buhari

Image
Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna Senatorial District, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari's administration to stop protecting Fulani herdsmen, saying their murderous attacks on farmers in various parts of the country have eroded the integrity of the government. Mr. Sani's offered his advice in a press statement issued on Sunday. Titled "Herdsmen and Helmsmen", the statement condemned the repeated horrors visited on farmers by the herdsmen. Senator Shehu Sani ”The mass murder in Southern Kaduna, Taraba, Benue, Numan and other affected places are unpardonable and despicable crime. These killings and bloodletting threaten the peace, stability and unity of our country," Mr. Sani said. He urged helmsmen, an allusion to political leaders, to urgently confront the herdsmen, adding that repeated condolences will not end the bloodshed. "Every attack erodes the credibility and integrity of the present administration and every drop of blood stains t

Atiku reacts to Tinubu’s alleged support for him, says Nigeria in trouble under Buhari

Image
Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President, has launched a fresh attack on the Federal Government, saying Nigerians are currently “jobless, hopeless.” The former Vice President said this while reacting to insinuations that national leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Bola Tinubu was in support of his 2019 presidential ambition. Speaking through his media aide, Paul Ibe, Abubakar stressed that he has become the issue in Nigerian politics because Nigerians have seen him as the best option in the face of the challenges they are facing. The Waziri of Adamawa maintained that the current administration has no solutions to Nigeria’s problems except blame game. In a chat with The Sun, Ibe said: “As such, he will be the subject of falsehoods and accusations. It comes with the territory. These conjectures are baseless and without foundation whatsoever and I will not dignify them with a further response. Nigerians are jobless; poverty and hopelessness is rife. “Our own Nigerian Bureau

A notorious cultist and kidnapper Mr. Igwedibia Johnson, aka Don Wanni, who has been on the run since he masterminded the New Year’s Day killing of 17 worshipers after crossover service in Omoku area of Rivers State, has been killed. He was reported killed by soldiers and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS), along with two of his lieutenants: Ikechukwu Adiele and Lucky Ode. The body of Don Wanni, Adiele and Ode were on Sunday morning displayed at the 6 Division of the Nigerian Army, Port Harcourt, by the outgoing General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the division, Maj.-Gen. Enobong Udoh, who was accompanied by Rivers Director of DSS, Mr. Tosin Ajayi, and Rivers Commissioner of Police, Zaki Ahmed. 2019 Presidency: Northern youths clash over Buhari’s re-election bid

Image
Less than two years to the 2019 general elections, northern youths have clashed over the moves by President Muhammadu Buhari to seek second term in office. Although the 1999 Constitution gives the President the right to seek re-election after the first four years in office, one of the northern groups, Arewa Youth Forum, headed by Alhaji Ibrahim Gambo Gugungu, yesterday, kicked against Buhari’s second term bid, describing his declaration of interest at a time of insecurity, leading to mass murder of innocent Nigerians in Rivers, Benue, Kwara, Kaduna state, as inappropriate. The AYF described the president’s action as not only insensitive but also inhuman and insulting to the generality of northern youths. However, barely 24 hours after the report by the AYF, another northern faction, known as Coalition of Northern Groups, CNG, disowned the former, saying they were yet to discuss the issue of Buhari’s second term and take a position on it. In a statement made available to  Sund

2019: Dele Momodu makes u-turn, writes Buhari on his ambition

Image
The publisher of Ovation Magazine, Dele Momodu, has written an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari following speculations he may be seeking reelection come 2019. In the long letter he shared on the social media on Saturday, Momosu pleaded with Buhari to perish the thought of continuing in power. He begged the President to please go home and rest, adding that Nigerians can no longer bear the current hardship. Read full letter… Kindly permit me to be as brutally frank as possible. As a stakeholder who made his modest contribution to your emergence as President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, I owe you nothing but the truth. I was not a member of your party when I volunteered to support your mission and ambition in 2015. I was elated when Nigerians succeeded in chasing away the profligate and reckless government of the PDP, led by President Goodluck Jonathan. I was one of those who unleashed terror on that government and I subsequently presented you with a compil

Fulani herdsmen killing Nigerians is backed by Goodluck Jonathan– Presidency alleges

Image
Lauretta Onochie, Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Social Media, has subtly claimed that ex-President Goodluck Jonathan is responsible for the killings perpetrated by Fulani herdsmen across the country. Onochie made the remark while faulting former Jonathan’s aide, Reno Omokri’s claim that Nigeria has become an abattoir. Sharing a post of one Aliyu Abdullahi, via her social media pages, Onochie said Jonathan is the Grand Patron of Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association. The post reads, “When Reno Omokri wrote his piece, “Nigeria, A Nation Once now an Abbatoire, I saw no need to respond to him, knowing that he is a habitual liar, he has lied many times before using his name and other aliases. “This time around also I knew he was lying when he said President Muhammadu Buhari was somehow complicit in the Herdsmen vs. Farmers clash because he was a Patron of Miyetti Allah Association, which is not true by the way. “It was just a deliberate attempt to cause

PRESIDENT BUHARI MUST BE A JOKER TO BE THINKING OF 2019 - CARDINAL OKOGIE

Image
Archbishop of Catholic archdiocese of Lagos, Cardinal Anthony Olubunmi Okogie, says President Muhammadu Buhari 'performed woefully' and must be a joker to be thinking of running for office again. This came after the launching of Mr. Buhari’s 2019 re-election campaign, with the appointment of former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi as the Director General. Adebayo Shittu, minister of communications, on Wednesday said the campaign for the re-election of Buhari had commenced. In an interview with New Telegraph, the clergyman noted that for Mr. Buhari to be talking of 2019 means he does not love Nigeria at all. “What has he done in the years he had been in the saddle? He has performed woefully; that’s the verdict of Nigerians. Let the president respect himself and retire quietly. Coming out to talk of 2019 is insulting not only to those who voted him to power but to all Nigerians. “There are so many problems confronting the people and he should be thinking of what to do
