Ayodele Fayose, former Governor of Ekiti State, has been granted bail in the sum of N50 million. His second appearance before the Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, on Wednesday, lasted less than 30 minutes. He was also asked to provide a surety who must have landed property in Lagos. The guarantor is also required to have three-year tax clearance in Lagos. Fayose was arraigned before Justice Mojisola Olatoregun by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on charges of corruption. He arrived at the court premises on Wednesday around 9am, escorted by armed security operatives and officials of the EFCC. Fayose is facing an 11-count charge bothering on receiving illegal monies to fund his 2014 governorship campaign in Ekiti State, among other allegations of benefitting from proceeds of money laundering. Suspected Boko Haram insurgents on Saturday night attacked Mairari and Femari communities in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the insurgents attacked the communities at about 8:30 pm; killed one person, set houses ablaze and carted away food items. The attack came barely 12 hours after the insurgents killed more than 10 farmers and abducted others at Kuwa-Yangeya village on Maiduguri-Damboa Road on Saturday. An eyewitness, Goni Umar, said the insurgents attacked the communities on gun trucks and motorcycles. Umar said the insurgents carted away food items from shops and houses before setting them ablaze. An 8-year-old school boy identified as Olamide has been found dead at Okeagbe-Akoko in Akoko North-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. His body was reportedly found in the bush with his hands tied behind his back and with cuts.
