IPoB: Time for national dialogue on agitations, marginalisations is now, Tofa tells Buhari

Image
Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa is a name many Nigerians are familiar with, especially those who witnessed the annulled 1993 presidential election in which he participated as the candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention. Now an elder statesman, Tofa, in this interview, says Nigeria’s greatness lies in the unity of purpose of the leadership and followership. Excerpts: Would you, with all sense of sincerity, say that the Federal Government, as controlled by the All Progressives Congress, APC, has lived up to the expectations of the masses in the last two years? When you say, ‘with all sense of sincerity’, it is like asking me to swear that whatever I say is the absolute truth. Well, the modest truth is that one cannot completely judge a government just two years into its tenure. Nonetheless, one can safely say, ‘thank God for this government that, at least, it has slowed down the decay, the wanton and senseless looting of our commonwealth and so on and so forth’. This gov

Nigeria must restructure —Tinubu •Says governance failure cause of secession agitations

Image
National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and former governor of Lagos State, Senator Bola Tinubu, has linked the secession agitations agitations in the country to the “chronic failure of government to meet basic aspirations” of the citizens. Tinubu has consequently advised the Federal Government to dialogue with the agitators rather than embrace confrontational approach, warning that the “cry of separation has gained traction among the average people.” He posited that if successive governments had delivered on their promises of abundant life and justice for the citizenry, those rooting for secession would not have been taken seriously. Tinubu spoke in Lagos in a keynote addressed entitled “A New Nigeria or a Better One: The Fitting Tools of a Great Repair,” at the 2017 annual dinner of the King’s College Old Boys Association. “Thus, we have people clamouring for secession in one part of the country and the murmur of such a course grows stronger in other sections.

Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has called President Muhammadu Buhari “an uncircumcised philistine”. In a new post on his personal website, Fani-Kayode uploaded Buhari’s image, along a lengthy write-up. The full text reads: “Who is this uncircumcised Philistine that has chosen to defy the armies of the Living God? You come against us with Fulani herdsmen, Boko Haram, Arewa Youths and your brutal army but we come against you in the name of the Lord of Hosts, the God of the Armies of Israel. “Thy servant slew the lion and the bear and so it shall be for this uncircumcised Philistine that has chosen to defy the armies of the Living God. “David had Prophet Samuel, Prophet Zadok and others. “We have Prophet TB Joshua, Bishop Oyedepo and others. Our God is mighty in battle and He is doing a new thing! How can we lose? “Once has it been written and twice has it been said that all power belongs to God and the heavens rule in the affairs of men. “The children of d

Am I sure i am doing the right thing?

Many think cheating is the only deal breaker to end a relationship –5 Things that get you question yourself; Am I sure i am doing the right thing? Spoiler alert: here are five signs you shouldn’t marry him that give you the green light to walk away, even when you’re not 100 percent sure you’re doing the right thing. He gets violent, even if he doesn’t hit you. You may think this is a no-brainer but it isn’t. Most women I know who’ve been in abusive relationships have immense strength, only to shut down in the presence of her partner’s anger and violence. As a strong woman myself, I froze when a guy I’d been dating went into a rage one night, throwing things, damaging property and calling me names. I knew it was a deal-breaker because even though he didn’t put his hands on me, he scared me. No healthy relationship can be built off a foundation of fear because you never know when his actions may escalate. I knew it was a deal-breaker because even though he didn’t put his hands

Obaze: Obiano is Creating Problems in Anambra

Image
Oseloka Obaze, PDP candidate has lashed on Willie Obiano administration with accusations of the flooding problem in the state capital, Awka. This was shortly after his convoy was forced to take an alternative route as heavy flooding took over Nibo Ring Road, Awka, causing difficulties for drivers to pursue the road. Obaze regretted that instead of solving problems, the Obiano government was rather compounding the problems of the state. “The Nibo Ring Road in Awka is flooded due to government approved market project that blocked waterways. I wonder who approved the EIA (Environmental Impact Assessment), if any. This is the evidence that the government is not working,” he said. He added, “This problem was created by the current Anambra State government which issued license for a market there subsequently blocking the drainage channel. Passing this route after a downpour has been a nightmare in the past three years with consequent losses. Government must solve problems not create

Ejiofor noted that the leader of the pro-Biafra group, Nnamdi Kanu was not allowed fair hearing, adding that the court lacked the jurisdiction to grant such an order. The court had outlawed the pro-Biafra group on the strength of an ex-parte motion filed by the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami. Justice Kafafati
