Umahi: Why Ebonyi will never be part of Biafra

Governor Dave Umahi of Ebonyi has  vowed that the state would not be part of  the Biafra Republic being canvassed for by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in the Southeast part of the country. Umahi spoke this during an inter-denominational prayer summit organised in Abakaliki, the state capital on Friday by the Office of the Wife of the Governor, in conjunction with the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN). According to him, being part of the proposed Biafra would amount to second slavery for Ebonyi State. “As the father of Ebonyi, I want to make it clear that we will never be in Biafra, we will not. We will not go back to second slavery. “We want to belong to Nigeria. Kogi: Gunmen carry out multiple abductions in Kabba, Lokoja

  Residents of communities in Kabba town, Kogi and Lokoja, the state capital are now living in fear following renewed abductions of persons by yet to be identified gunmen in their areas on Friday. On Friday,  multiple abductions were reported in Kabba, the headquarters of Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, and Lokoja, the state capital. In the ancient town of Kabba where there have been series of kidnappings in the last month, the rampaging  gunmen killed a man, and abducted four others including two chieftaincy title holders. Some gunmen also abducted two persons along Zone 8 to Crusher Road of Lokoja, the state capital. In Kabba, the kidnappers were said to have first attacked the Headmaster of Otu Egunbe primary school around Ayedun and whisked him away. The headmaster was said to be on his way to Egbeda community for a programme before he was abducted. Former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN),   Kingsley Moghalu , has joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2023 presidential election . The 58-year-old had previously left the Young Progressive Party (YPP) after his underwhelming performance as a candidate in the 2019 presidential election. He announced his new party on Friday, October 8, 2021 declaring his faith in the ability of Nigerian youths to re-engineer Nigeria's economy. Dokpesi advises the PDP to present a northern candidate to win the 2023 presidential election.

A chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Raymond Dokpesi strongly believes no candidate from the southeast can win the presidency for the opposition party in the 2023 general elections. In an interview, Dokpesi advised the PDP to seek its presidential candidate from the north, saying presenting a southern candidate would be a huge challenge for the party in the election. However, the PDP chieftain proffered that whoever emerged the winner of the presidential election in 2023 should compensate the people of the southeast. The National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, on Friday night, returned to Nigeria after spending over three months in London, the United Kingdom, Evritinnaija has learnt. Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has been released by the Nigerian Army 24 hours after he was arrested. He was arrested on Thursday in Onitsha, Anambra by the Nigerian Army for wearing a Biafra regalia. In a statement published on the social media platform of the military, he was accused of soliciting support and campaigning for the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and Eastern Security Network (ESN). The reports of the movie star’s release was shared by some of his colleagues on social media on Friday, October 8, 2021. “Uncle Chiwetalu Agu has been released. He is safe and sound.   Nollywood actor Yul Echodie has expressed concern for the wellbeing of industry veteran Chiwetalu Agu. Agu is being detained by the Nigerian Army who arrested him for allegedly supporting the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB), an allegation he contends.   THERE are strong indications that Petroleum Tanker Drivers, PTD, branch of the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, may begin a nationwide strike any moment from today over the deplorable conditions of federal roads across the country and two other pending issues. Vacation judge Justice KCJ Okereke of the Abia State High Court had on September adjourned the suit for reassignment on Thursday, saying that he would not have enough time to conclude the matter during his vacation period which ended September 30. Kanu had filed a N5 billion suit against the federal government of Nigeria for his “abduction in Kenya and extradition to Nigeria”. He seeks among other things, a return to Kenya where he was “forcefully abducted”, and then to Britain his place of abode.
