Buhari arrives Riyadh for future investment summit

President Muhammadu Buhari arrived in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday, at about 11.50 pm, for the Future Investment Initiative Institute conference. The President was received at King Khalid International Airport by the Deputy Governor of Riyadh, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Abdulaziz. This was disclosed in a statement by Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, on Tuesday. President Buhari, alongside other world leaders, will participate in the opening ceremony of the event on Tuesday and the three-day plenary sessions focused on the theme for the 5th edition of the summit, “Invest in Humanity”. Aloy Ejimakor, a special counsel for IPOB leader Nnamdi Kanu, has stated that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), has a responsibility to provide justice for Nigerians and foreigners in the country, not to defend President Muhammadu Buhari’s dictatorship. The IPOB leader’s lawyer also said Malami, being a legal practitioner should bring any evidence he has against Kanu to the court of law, instead of holding press conferences that are biased against the IPOB leader. The Presidency has disclosed that the trial of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, would lead to the end of the pro-Biafra group. President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman, Garba Shehu, disclosed that IPOB does not enjoy much support in the Southeast. Shehu pointed out that Kanu and IPOB do not enjoy the support of Southeast governors and lawmakers. He made the remark in response to the criticism against Buhari by a London-based news magazine, The Economist. Lawyers from the Igbo speaking region of Nigeria have applied to the federal high court in Abuja to be joined as defendants in a suit by a group of northern elders’ praying for the exit of the southeast region from Nigeria. The lawyers say the application is based on the agitations of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafran (IPOB) and Nnamdi Kanu. Lawyers from the Igbo speaking region of Nigeria have applied to the federal high court in Abuja to be joined as defendants in a suit by a group of northern elders’ praying for the exit of the southeast region from Nigeria. Anambra adopts Saturday school in response to IPOB’s sit-at-home order

Anambra has adopted Saturday in place of Monday for school activities in the state, following the weekly Monday sit-at-home order by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). The government directive will take effect from October 30, 2021, per the Punch report. In a memo cited by the newspaper, school heads were asked to inform teachers and parents of the new and unusual development. I am directed by the Executive Secretary to inform you that the Anambra State Govt. has approved Saturdays as school days in place of Mondays. “All HMs are to notify teachers, pupils as well as parents about the new development.
