Atiku Group Reacts To NPA Contract Termination by Buhari

Image
Coalition Blasts Buhari for Terminating Contract Atiku’s Company Had With NPA Over 2019 ElectionElection The attention of Democracy Coalition has been drawn to a petty and witch-hunting policy of the Buhari administration which resulted in the termination of the boat pilotage monitoring and supervision contract Atiku’s company Intels had with the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) because of Atiku’s interest in contesting the 2019 Presidential Election against the rumoured reelection bid of the ailing President. There is no doubt that the move is part of the wider conspiracy to attack and cripple the business interest of the former Vice President who is also the biggest employer of labour in Nigeria. To say the least, the terminated contract is an open admittance by the failed Buhari government that Atiku’s Presidency is inevitable come 2019. Anybody fooling himself with an overdose of cocaine syrup and is thinking that Atiku will go broke and back out of the 2019 Presidential race i

He, however, said though the representatives of the agitators were few in number, “the majority must always win.” Speaking at a town hall meeting organised by his committee to get inputs from youths, the governor said when people talk about restructuring, most proponents think of their zones while no one thinks of the country. He said:  “The greatest injustice is trying to make equals unequal and unequals equal; things are not done like that. What do I mean by that? There are those who have said that Nigeria and United States are the same. “It

Image
Femi Falana, human rights lawyer, says the decision of Maikanti Baru, group managing director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), to bypass Ibe Kachikwu, minister of state for petroleum resources, in award of contracts and appointments cannot be justified by law. After Kachikwu wrote a petition against him, Baru said he did not break any law. We’re not injecting people in South East with monkeypox injection —Army

The Nigerian Army has urged the public to disregard rumours that its ongoing free medical outreach, especially in the South-East, was aimed at de-populating the zone. Col Sagir Musa, Deputy Director, Public Relations, 82 Division of the Nigerian Army, made the call in a statement issued in Enugu on Wednesday. Musa said that the free medical outreach was not a vaccine intended to infect monkey pox or any major contemporary or emerging diseases to the people of the zone or any part of the country. He described as `silly and mischievous’ publications trending on the social media alleging that the ongoing free medical services giving to some communities in the zone were with a sinister motive of depopulating the region through the so-called `monkeypox vaccination’. “The exercise is part of the corporate social responsibility initiatives imbued into the overall Exercise EGWU EKE 11 package to the people of the South Eastern Region which is the area of responsibility of the 82 Divis

Biafrans and Onumah’s ‘prophecies’

Image
Title: We Are All Biafrans Author: Chido Onumah Publisher: Origami Year: 2016 Pages: 214 Along the line of my quest for knowledge, I have always come across this cliché that Nigeria is a land of milk and honey: Arable land, mineral resources, and a large and enterprising population; variables that make a nation great. Regrettably and in spite of all of these, we have been in a pitiable situation. Whenever I ruminate over these conundrums, a whole lot of rhetorical questions keep agitating my mind. Setting my eyes on this book, its title, We Are All Biafrans, only heightened a sense of curiosity in me towards finding out why we are described by one of the age-long canker worms we have been battling to do away with as a country. However, from the outset, as someone who has always shared patriotic feeling with each and every individual that believes in the Nigeria project, I did not see this book as only a work of art, which must be appreciated by its enthusiasts. Rather,

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo said on Monday that he had no plan to contest in the 2019 presidential poll. Osinbajo disclosed this at the Financial Times Africa Summit in London when asked if he had considered contesting in the 2019 election. The vice-president reportedly replied saying, “None of that is on the cards.” Osinbajo’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Laolu Akande, had earlier asked Nigerians to disregard a group, Osinbajo Volunteers, campaigning for his election as president in 2019, saying Osinbajo had nothing to do with them. The group said Nigeria now “has a leader who has a clue about what to do and (how to) turn Nigeria to a beloved land of our dreams.” “Note that Osinbajo did not endorse this volunteer group. We have never met him. We are strong believers in the fact that he is the right ruler for Nigeria and we must create a people’s volunteer base for him,” the group added. The activities of Osinbajo was highlighted on its website, w
