The Igbo apex group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has advised the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu, to forget his 2023 presidential ambition, saying it’s time for him to pay back to Nigeria. According to SaharaReporters, the deputy national publicity secretary of the group, Chuks Ibegbu, gave this advice during an interview with reporters on Friday, July 29, in Umuahia, Abia state. Ibegbu asked how Tinubu could nurse presidential ambition when the South East of Nigeria is yet to occupy the position. He said: “This is the time for him and other Nigerians that made their wealth solely from Nigeria’s politics, to pay back to the society what they milked directly and indirectly. I wonder why and how Tinubu could nurse such ambition when the south east and the third leg of Nigeria is yet to occupy the position. “I laud Tinubu’s courage and efforts to deepen the democratic space from the June 12 days, but it appears diminishing return is now setting in. Stolen mandate’ tearing Presidency, APC apart – PDP

Image
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has said that the bitter in-fighting and hostilities in the Presidency and the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) were the consequences of a stolen mandate. According to the PDP, the mandate was stolen from its presidential candidate in the February 23 elections, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar. In a statement Saturday by the spokesman for the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said the vicious fight for positions as ‘booty’ of a stolen mandate has further exposed the APC and the cabal in the Buhari Presidency as power mongers who are only interested in power grabbing, treasury looting and plundering of national patrimony and not in the welfare of Nigerians. The statement said, “In the past few days, Nigerians painfully watched a reality show of the fate that had befallen them in the past four years, as persons close to the President openly declared that a cabal has been running the affairs of our nation. “Nigerians watched as a faction within the pow

Ibegbu noted that “the problem of Ndigbo is people like Kalu, who ride on Igbo platform to be relevant in the country and later castigate their own people.” He wondered “why some misled and sycophantic Igbo politicians, in a bid to massage the ego of their masters, would reel out phlegm against their own people just for mere porridge.” According to Ohanaeze Ndigbo, “no Northern, Western or Niger Delta politician worth his salt will openly castigate their own people the way our slavish political elites do.
