Benue killings: God will visit blood of victims on Fulani herdsmen, sponsors – Fayose

Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State, on Thursday declared that God will visit the blood of people killed by suspected herdsmen on their killers and sponsors. Fayose spoke in Makurdi, the Benue State capital during his visit to commiserate with the State Governor, Samuel Ortom over killings by suspected herdsmen. His comment was contained in a statement by his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media Lere Olayinka. He also declared support for the Benue State Anti-Grazing Law and urged the people of the State to stand by the law. The Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, has said in a new video that he is tired of the calamity befalling his group. “I am tired of this calamity; it is better I die and go to rest in paradise”, he said at the end of the 10-minute video. ‘Herdsmen’ in gun battle with soldiers in Benue

Suspected herdsmen engaged men of the 707 special forces brigade of the Nigerian Army, Makurdi, Benue state in a gun battle on Tuesday. Olabisi Ayeni, spokesman of the brigade, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday. He said the suspects were plotting to attack a fish farm belonging to Samuel Ortom, governor of the state. Ayeni said two of the attackers had been arrested. “Troops of 707 Special Forces Brigade, Nigerian Army, on a routine patrol along Gbajimba – Iyiodeh road in Guma LGA of Benue State on Tuesday 6 February 2018 arrested two Fulani militia who were suspected to be planning a dangerous mission,” he said. “The troops sighted a group of these people while on their daily patrol. President Muhammadu Buhari’s sister in-law Hajiya Aisha Mamman is dead. Hajiya Aisha Mamman is the wife of the late Alhaji Mamman Danbaffale, the elder brother to Buhari. She died in the early hours of Thursday at the age of 75. The Information Officer of the Daura Local Government Council in Katsina, Alhaji Salisu Haro, made the disclosure in Daura. Haro said the deceased died at 11:30am at the Federal Medical Center in Katsina during a brief illness. Mamman is survived by eight children, including Fatihu Mamman, a staff of the Nigerian Communications Commission and Hajiya Rbiya Mamman, a nutrition officer with the Katsina State Government. Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti state, says Jimoh Moshood, police spokesman, insulted all the state governors by calling Samuel Ortom, his Benue counterpart, “a drowning man”. Riots broke out in parts of Benin City, Edo State on Tuesday following the death of a commercial bus driver identified as Sunny who was allegedly pushed to his death by a policeman. The riots by the commercial bus drivers left many pedestrians stranded especially those going to Oregbeni market at Ikpoba-Hill from various parts of the city. Herdsmen attacks: ‘Two killed, 30 primary schools shut in Ogun’

Thirty primary schools and several health centres have been closed in Ketu communities of Ketu Local Council Development Area (LCDA) in Ogun State, following attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen in the last five months. Herdsmen Attacks: Benue Community Seeks Ohanaeze, Afenifere, Niger Delta, M/Belt Forum Supports

Makurdi – The Benue community has called on four regional socio-cultural organisations in the country among them Afenifere, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Middle Belt Forum and people of the Niger Delta to join forces with it to defend its people against attacks by Fulani herdsmen. The Benue community may have made the call following the hand of friendship extended to it by the regions under the aegis of South South/Middle Belt Forum in January. Another $202Million Missing From The Coffers Of The National Intelligence Agency(NIA), House Of Reps Says

There seem to be no letting up on the scandals plaguing the National Intelligence Agency as another $202 million has been discovered to be missing from its coffers. Recall that first there was the issue of $43million found in an Ikoyi, Lagos apartment said to belong to the NIA, Then there was the $44 million allegedly missing from the NIA’s coffers which the House of Representatives mandated its committee on Public Safety and National Security to investigate. Chairman of the Committee , Hon. Aminu Sani Jaji ( APC Zamfara) said while investigating the missing $44 million as mandated by the House, a stunning discovery came to light that an additional $202 million is missing from the coffers of the NIA. In a post-meeting briefing with reporters at the weekend, the committee chair said it was discovered that a total of $289 million was given to the NIA by the Goodluck Jonathan administration for ” intervention”.
