Breaking: Boko Haram terrorists hijack bus, kill two, abduct 25 in Borno

Two people were killed and 25 others kidnapped in a Boko Haram ambush on a civilian convoy in Borno, security sources and a local resident said on Thursday. Boko Haram Terrorists The attack on vehicles under military escort happened at around 3:00 pm (1400 GMT) on Tuesday near the town of Gwoza, in Borno state, and led to a brief shoot-out. “A soldier and a civilian were killed in the ambush and a bus carrying around 25 people was taken away,” civilian militia leader Ibrahim Liman told AFP. The attack was believed to have been carried out by fighters from the Boko Haram faction led by Abubakar Shekau, which is based in and around the Sambisa Forest enclave near Gwoza. In August 2014, the jihadists proclaimed Gwoza as the headquarters of its self-styled caliphate. The convoy was heading from the town to the Borno state capital, Maiduguri, at the time. Osamede Adun, a chieftain of the Edo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and a Benin high chief has defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP. Adun, who led thousands of APC members to defect in Benin also placed a curse on anyone who returned to the party. Speaking at PDP secretariat in Benin, Adun said they dumped APC due to the large-scale poverty and high handedness which the ruling party was notorious for. He said: “We are back home to the PDP. I am placing a curse on anybody who comes here to spy on us with the intention of going back to the APC. “There is a curse on anybody here who goes back to APC. As the police complies with the order of Vice President Yemi Osinbajo for a total overhaul of the Federal Special Anti Robbery Squad FSARS, the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, has warned FSARS personnels to respect the rights of Nigerians and if they go contrary to this, they would be severely punished. The police chief made this known while reading the riot act at the Anambra State Police Command Headquarters, Amawbia at a lecture to officers of FSARS yesterday September 5th. Idris who was represented at the event by the National Coordinator X-Squad, Amaechi Elumelu, a Deputy Commissioner of Police, said the membership of FSARS was voluntary and asked those who felt they could not cope with the ongoing reforms to opt out now. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, has challenged the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yekini Nabena, to a debate on national issues on any national television. Mr Saraki presented the challenge, alleging that many people in the media believe he (Mr Nabena) is a robot and does not have a face. His statement was in reaction to another earlier released by Mr Nabena on behalf of the APC where he said Nigerians are tired of Mr Saraki’s retrogressive politics and deserve no more. 41 suspected homosexuals arrested at a birthday party in Bauchi

At least 41 Nigerians suspected to be homosexuals have been arrested by security operatives in Bauchi State. The suspects were arrested during a joint operation by men of the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Bauchi State command. The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Kamal Abubakar, who confirmed the incident, told Newsmen that the police had charged 37 of the suspects to court. He said, “Although we gathered through intelligence reports that the suspects were homosexuals, we did not charge them to court as homosexuals or lesbians since we did not catch them in the act. But we charged them for being public nuisance since they were arrested at a birthday party.” According to the Bauchi State Commissioner for Religious Affairs, Alhaji Ado Zigau, the suspects were arrested based on intelligence reports. The orgy of violence revisited Plateau State on Sunday night as gunmen attacked Lopandet community in Dwei Du area of Jos South Local Government Area, killing 13 persons and injuring 12 others. Youths in the community responded yesterday with violent protest of the killings even as the state Governor, Mr. Simon Lalong, commiserated with the people over the heinous attack. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, however, condemned the attack and blamed the governor for embarking on a trip to China, which has no direct benefit to the people of the state. A head teacher, who was apprehended by the police in Enugu State for defiling four pupils in his school, has blamed Satan for his actions. The head teacher, Nathaniel Idoko, said to be about 50 years old, hails from Mkpamteulo, a community in Enugu Ezike, in the Igboeze Local Government Area of Enugu State. Idoko is the head teacher of a migrant farmers’ children school located in Aguibeji, in Enugu Ezike. The spokesman for the Enugu State Police Command, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, who confirmed the Idoko’s arrest on Monday, said he was arrested for defiling four pupils on July 17, 2018. The suspect reportedly took the pupils into a bush, where he sexually assaulted them. The defiled pupils were said to be between five and six years old. The Governor of Ebonyi State, Engr. David Umahi on Monday revealed that many looted funds in Nigeria were stocked in foreign banks, cemeteries and underground. He made this known while declaring open anti-corruption, ethics and integrity training for Ebonyi State local government officials, held in Abakaliki on Monday. The Governor advocated amnesty for looters, saying such approach would help in arresting corruption and commit offenders in surrendering over 70 percent of looted public funds. He promised that in the course of fighting corruption, Ebonyi State government would establish ICPC office in the state. “We have so much of the looted funds trapped in foreign banks, some buried at the cemetery while many were buried underground where they were destroyed by termites. “But if there is a negotiation like committing the looters into subtly surrendering at least 70 percent of the looted funds and keeping the rest or investing all the funds in the country; by so doing, we would
