Why S'East Governors Would Remain Slaves In The Hands Of Their Hausa Fulani Masters — IPOB

Image
The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Saturday night condemned the South East Governor’s Forum over their proscription of the activities of the organization which it described as most peaceful body in the world. In a statement signed by its media and publicity secretary, Comrade Emma Powerful, the organization said the speed with which the governors announced the proscription of IPOB activities had proved that the governors would remain slaves in the hands of their Hausa Fulani masters. According to IPOB, it was unfortunate that the governors declared the group as illegal without condemning the barbaric and unprovoked killings of IPOB people in Umuahia, Aba and Port Harcourt, as well as the continuous killing, raping of women and destruction of farm crops by herdsmen masquerading as cattle rearers in Biafra land. IPOB said: “We want to find out how the governors who do not know the foundations of IPOB, would make such a statement when they know that IPOB had staged 297 peacefu

Defence Headquarters can’t declare IPOB a terrorist organisation

Image
The Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA) has said that the Nigerian Militargenous People of Biafra (IPOB) a terrorist organisation, stressing that the military has increasingly become anti-democratic and assuming legislative powers. The group in a statement by its National Coordinator, Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko, and the National Media Affairs Director, Miss Zainab Yusuf, said the pronouncement on IPOB as a terrorist group is a charade and a plot to initiate violent crackdown on the members of this substantially unarmed and peaceful group. The rights group said the military institution as a creation of the law must not be permitted to grow wings and become an omnibus vehicle that w

Image

Fani-Kayode explodes over declaration of Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB as terrorists

Image
Former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode, has condemned the declaration of Nnamdi Kanu and his group, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB)as terrorists.  “How can anyone describe an unarmed group of people as terrorists. As far as I am aware, Nnamdi Kanu and members of his IPOB have never killed anyone and neither have they been carrying arms. “Theirs is a peaceful non-violent struggle in pursuit of a legitimate aspiration and objective. “Violence and arms have no place in that struggle and in my view the military is simply trying to create an atmosphere of terror, fear and intimidation in order to justify their actions in the east and a general clampdown on those they perceive as enemies of the state. “It really is a pity that it has come to this and once again, I call for restraint on all sides. This is a democracy and not a military dictatorship,” he said. A statement he signed by the military gave reasons for the decision. It said “after due professional analysis a

We Are Killing Our Army By Sending It After Kanu By Abiodun Ladepo

Image
If we talk now, dem go brand us “Enemy of the State” and start chasing us upandan with police, DSS, Customs, Immigrations and even vigilantes. But how do you criticize the deployment of soldiers to the private residence of a man without incurring the wrath of the presidency? I have an idea: blame it on the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen Tukur Buratai; blame it on Chief of Defense Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin – for those two must be in the know before troops are deployed within and outside Nigeria. We can take the blame for this aberration a little higher. How about laying it at the doorstep of President Buhari’s Chief of Staff, Abba Kyari? Wouldn’t he have been the last person to know before the president himself knew? Buratai would have communicated his plans to Olonisakin, who would, in turn, have asked Abba Kyari for a meeting with the President so he could brief him. Abba Kyari would likely have just given the go-ahead in the name of the president because Mr. President was indi

POB vs Nigerian Army: How one move changed everything

Image
What started out as a “show-of-force” by the Nigerian Army in the Southeast has rapidly escalated into widespread tribal agitation. Following the army’s alleged attack on the home of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) leader, Nnamdi Kanu, on Sunday, things have continued to go south at an unprecedented rate. Unprecedented because Nnamdi Kanu in an earlier response said he and the members of IPOB would not respond violently, however, recent events are indicating that that decision may no longer be on the table. A number of disturbing videos went viral on social media yesterday. One showing members of the army forcing suspected IPOB members to grovel in a pool of mud, while another video – which was more striking – showed some men, allegedly IPOB-Biafra militia, searching buses for Hausas and Fulanis, somewhere in South East Nigeria. Why this retaliatory move by IPOB members is so significant is because the general expectation was that, if at all the pro-Biafrans were going t
