This June, I Hope You’re Proud Of Being You

Image
You. You. You. You are phenomenal. You are amazing, creative, talented, smart, hilarious, humble, dedicated, loyal, hard-working, and so many other qualities you haven’t even uncovered yet. You are a magnificent being in the process of becoming more impactful to the world with each day you are alive. You, just being alive alone, is majestic itself. You are vital to the earth turning on its axis perfectly every day. Maybe it doesn’t feel like this all the time — those mornings you wake up late, the days when you feel defeated at work, the nights you’re catcalled and name-called on your way home. The world is brutal out there, isn’t it? No matter how persistently you have sought to be enough for another person, dedicated yourself to proving your worth, or worked until your body shut itself down, someone out there finds a way to remind you that you aren’t everything. And you aren’t. Not yet. You’re this incredibly bright, growing human being. Every single day of your life, you’re go

Imo : Okorocha Mocks Ihedioha , Says Governor Behaving Like Reps Member

Image
Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo State, has challenged his successor, Emeka Ihedioha, to stop behaving like a lawmaker. He said rather than settle down to his responsibility of governance, Ihedioha had been setting up committees as if he was still a member of the House of Representatives on oversight functions. The governor stated this in a statement signed by his Media Aide, Sam Onwuemeodo, yesterday. The statement read, “The new governor of Imo State, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, has not started to govern the state; looking at his activities and utterances so far. “He has been embarking on oversight functions as if he is still at the National Assembly where he was, uninterruptedly, for 12 years. “He has also been busy setting up series of committees with at least three committees a day, and has never done any serious thing or taken any serious step or said any serious thing to show that he has actually taken the seat as the governor of the state. He also seems not to have ca

When the thought of him enters your brain and stays there day and night.

Without a warning, the thought of him enters your brain and stays there day and night. Everywhere you look, you see his name printed in capital letters. You try to remember the last time you felt this dizzy and conflicted and torn. You close your eyes and embrace the silence around you, hoping to understand your emotions. And it’s somehow working. You’re starting to figure out why you suddenly can’t stop thinking about him. “This isn’t love yet,” you tell yourself. But it’s a little close to that. You’re few moments away from tearing your walls down. The logical part of you is slowly disappearing. And you’re acting like a kid again. You catch yourself smiling for no reason at all. You rest your chin above your hands, unconsciously daydreaming. “How did this happen?” you ask yourself. You look back on the day you first met, when he shook your hand, when you first heard him speak. Maybe his touch melted the coldness in your heart and you weren’t aware of it at that time. Maybe when

Do everything to defend yourselves, ancestral land

Image
A group, Alaigbo Development Forum (ADF), has called on the people of Southeastern Nigeria to be ready to defend themselves against alleged impending attacks by those it called jihadist organisations. The group led by Professor Uzodimma Nwala stated this in a communiqué it made available to newsmen on Sunday. It said the communiqué came following exhaustive discussions by its members. The communiqué read, “There is an agenda of a bloody islamisation and jihad to conquer, occupy, take over and enslave Alaigbo and elsewhere in the Federal Republic of Nigeria. “Ndigbo should do everything in their power to defend themselves, wives, children and their ancestral land.” The group also resolved that: “a memorandum to alert Ndigbo in Nigeria and in the Diaspora on the peace, development and security of Alaigbo should be prepared; all stakeholders in Alaigbo, including the governments and traditional institutions in Alaigbo, to pursue a common agenda in the interest of the surviva

How can Northerners rule for 42 years and the North is still the poorest place in Nigeria?- Moghalu

Image
Presidential candidate of Young Progressive Party (YPP) in the 2019 elections, Kingsley Moghalu has blamed northern elites and politicians of encouraging poverty among the masses. Moghalu made this statement on Sunday while speaking at the Ra’ayi Initiative for Human Development (RIHD) annual lecture, in Kano. He spoke on “Northern Nigeria’s prosperity in the 21st Century: The imperative of social and economic transformation.” According to him, the selfishness of the northern political class remains the major cause of poverty and under-development in the region. He wondered why the North could hold power at the centre for 42 years and still remain “the headquarters of poverty in Nigeria.” He said solutions for repositioning the North are based on re-setting of the people’s mindset and worldview, insisting that, “the problem with the North is the North versus itself. Moghalu urged northerners to make human development their priorities, adding that there was a nagging need to fi

The Ugly Truth About ‘Almost Relationships’ And Why I’ll Never Do It Again...

Image
I never thought I could get myself into an ‘almost relationship’, one that starts out fast, and ends fast. And I never thought that an ‘almost relationship’ could also break my heart. The thing about ‘almost relationships’ is that there is potential for an actual relationship. It could bloom into one, right? And that’s the exact downfall about it. You keep hoping and praying that it’s going to turn into something beautiful. You keep thinking that it will until he texts you that he has changed his mind. You keep thinking that it’ll turn into a love story, until he really does change his mind and walks out. I was positive it was going to work out with this guy. I got giddy when I saw him. My heart beat out of my chest when I was with him, and I felt breathless in his presence. I introduced him to my friends. I slept over at his place. I told him my deepest secrets. I kissed him like I could only kiss a boyfriend. I gladly, let him walk into my life. And I never expected him to wa

CAUTION: DO NOT READ THIS ARTICLE ANYWHERE NEAR THE PERSON YOU’RE THINKING ABOUT BASED ON THIS TITLE UNLESS YOU’RE READY TO WALK AWAY RIGHT NOW… Labelless love. That bastard. I wish I knew then what I know now. Whether you call it a “situationship”, an “understanding”. or you’re really not sure what to call it… a labelless love is definitely one you should leave in 2018. Here are 8 things I wish I would’ve known before getting into a labelless relationship. 1. The title actually does matter . We see it all the time on social media that “the title doesn’t matter”, but yes the hell it does. A labelless relationship does nothing but leave room for misunderstandings, confusion, and ultimately, heartbreak. Here I am, happy as all get out, providing the best girlfriend qualities I possess just to be introduced as his friend months after we had been involved. It was like a slap in the face. I wasn’t “just your friend’ when you were holding me at night or when you wanted me to cook fo

The different fault lines and grievances of citizens and constituent

They connived and imposed Buhari on the rest of the people"

A Second Republic lawmaker, Dr Junaid Mohammed, has slammed former President Olusegun Obasanjo and former Defence Minister, Lt.-Gen. Theophilus Danjuma (rtd) over their claims that there was a “Fulanisation” and “Islamisation” agenda. Mohammed,  who is a Kano-based sociopolitical critic, said that Obasanjo and Danjuma were among retired soldiers that “conspired” to impose President Muhammadu Buhari on Nigerians in 2015. He said that they were only complaining now because they fell out with the Buhari administration. Recall that Obasanjo in May said that there was a plot by Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen to “Islamise Africa” and “Fulanise West Africa”. Last week, the Nigerian Christian Elders’ Forum (NCEF) that has Danjuma as a prominent member reported the Buhari administration to the United Kingdom’s All Party Parliamentary Group for International Freedom of Religion or Belief. According to the Christian elders, the Buhari administration has been aiding jihadists instead o
