The Defence Headquarters has declared that the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu is not in military custody. DHQ spokesperson, John Enenche, made the declaration while stating that it was not the responsibility of the military to declare Kanu wanted. The military did not proscribe IPOB. “Due process was followed to proscribe it. Politics - I Had Only N20,000 In My Account Before I Became President In 1999 - Obasanjo

Image
Former Nigerian president, Olusegun Obasanjo, during an interview he had recently with Yahoo News, revealed that he had only N20,000 with him before he entered office as president. See an excerpt from the interview As one might expect of a man who has published 2.2kg worth of autobiography – not including previous memoirs My Command and Not My Will – Obasanjo is highly sensitive when questions over his legacy are raised. “Come off it. I had the largest poultry farm before I became president, the largest in Africa. The fact I have N20,000 in my account does not mean I’m not wealthy,” he snaps, referring to questions over how he came to be a multi-millionaire despite having just a few dollars when he entered office. “Do you understand that?” When talking about abstract policy, Obasanjo tried to stay in ponderous elder statesman mode, but the moment his own reputation is under scrutiny, he switches to street-fighter mode. He turns to attack and starts pre-emptively answering ques

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Caretaker Committee, Ahmed Makarfi, has said that only restructuring can put an end to the agitations by the South East, which is presently posing a threat to the unity of Nigeria. He went on further to urge the Igbos resident in the north not to flee the region because of the October 1 declaration by the northern youths. The PDP chief who spoke in Kaduna yesterday, on the need to ensure that the nation’s internal security and sovereignty was not further threatened by the agitations, advised the Federal Government to embark on the process of restructuring Nigeria for development, growth and peaceful existence of citizens in the country. Asking Igbos not to leave, he said, “If not for the measures the governors took, the matter could have gone out of control. We didn’t see reprisals; we saw leaders, governors, traditional rulers and religious leaders calling for calm. “I am confident October 1 will come and go peacefu

Withdraw them now, he tells President Calls for restructuring have been described as a waste of time and energy and will lead to nowhere. Making this assertion in an interview with TUNDE THOMAS, a renowned anti-corruption crusader and retired Army General, Maj.-Gen. Ola Ishola-Williams (retd) noted that what Nigeria needs is not restructuring but constitution amendment to address the ongoing agitations in different parts of the country. Biafra: The last thing Nnamdi Kanu told me – Ejiofor, IPOB lawyer

Image
Ifeanyi Ejiofor, lead counsel of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has disclosed his last conversation with Nnamdi Kanu. Ejiofor also lamented that he has not been able to reach Kanu since the military stormed his Afara-Ukwu, Umuahia, Abia State home. The lawyer, in a chat wit Sun, recalled that he got a call from Kanu on 14th September that army personnel were shooting sporadically around his house. “I quickly issued a statement which was widely published on the social media alerting the world of what was going on; that my client was under siege as the military was shooting for over 40 minutes trying to gain access into the house. “He called me again that they were at the gate shooting to gain access, I asked him to remain inside, while I continued to let the world know. That was our last communication and I never heard from him again after the attack. And the rest is now story.” On the fate of the sureties who are expected to produce the IPOB leader in court, Ejiofor

ATIKU ABUBAKAR- an idea whose time has come ?

Image
In the heady days   of the dawn of the 4th  republic when governor elect of Adamawa state, Atiku Abubakar, was forced to consign that office to the dustbin of strategy in order to take up the PDP’s vice presidential ticket that would catapult him to Aso Rock; things appeared to be rather straightforward. Musa Yaradua, great friend and ally of General Olusegun Obasanjo, was also the political godfather of Atiku. Political analysts had considered it only fair that Yaradua’s godson would govern in his stead, in the country for whom he died. Obasanjo’s clout was global and far reaching, and few men boasted the unique ability as he did at the time to stabilize a hurting nation, smarting still from the   wounds inflicted on it from the wrestle to take power back from the military. And having governed as head of state before, it was permutated that Obasanjo would relinquish power after a term and it would be a seamless transition to Atiku. The presidency would be just a matter of time-

UK demands Nnamdi Kanu from FG, reacts to IPOB proscription

The United Kingdom has asked the Nigerian government to comment on the whereabouts of Nnamdi Kanu , leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB.  The Press Officer, UK high commission in Nigeria, Joe Abuku, disclosed that Britain already made an official inquiry about Kanu. “We are seeking urgent clarification from the Nigerian authorities about the status and whereabouts of Mr. Kanu, a British-Nigerian man, who has been reported missing since September 14,” Abuku told Punch. Asked if the UK would strip Kanu of citizenship on account of the declaration by Nigeria that he was leading a terrorist organisation, the mission said it does not comment on individual cases. “One of the conditions that can make the United Kingdom strip its citizen of nationality is if the person engages in a terrorist activity at home or abroad. And Kanu has dual citizenship and therefore a citizen of Nigeria and the UK,” the mission stated. On whether UK supported the Nigerian go

Igbos in the North shun kinsmen’s fresh calls to quit

The leadership of the Igbo community in Northern Nigeria has said that Igbo people will not heed the call by an association of lawyers in Anambra State, asking them to return home. It described the call as nothing but mischief. This was as Yerima Shettima, one of the leaders of the Coalition of Northern Youths, which had previously issued a quit notice to the Igbo living in the north, assured them that no harm will come their way on October 1 or after. The Vice President of Igbo Delegate Assembly in 19 Northern states, Cheif Chris Nnoli, said the call by the so called lawyers was condemnable. Nnoli, a lawyer, expressed disappointment and dismay that professionals like lawyers could make such call. He, however, assured that no Igbo man living in the north will heed such call because every Nigerian under the constitution of the country has the right to live anywhere they feel like within the country. Nnoli, who is also the President General of Igbo Community Welfare Associa

As a “consummated” Businessman, Atiku is a co-Founder of Intels, an oil servicing business with wide ranging operations across the country and outside the country. He is also the founder of Adama Beverages Limited, and the American University of Nigeria, AUN, both in Yola, the Adamawa State capital. Born to an itinerant Fulani Trader and Farmer, Garba Abubakar, the former Vice President was said to have started out in the real estate business during his early days as a Customs Officer. History has it that in 1974, he applied for and received a N31,000 loan to build his first house in Yola, which he put up for rent. From proceeds of the rent, he was reported to have purchased another plot, and built a second house. He was said to have continued that way, building a considerable range of property in Yola. Apparently very go-getting in investment, he was said to have later moved into agriculture, acquiring 2,500 hectares of

What Jonathan learnt from losing 2015 election to Buhari – Fani-Kayode

Image
Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, has said that the lesson Goodluck Jonathan learnt from his defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 presidential election, is that you cannot win without substantial support from Yoruba people. Fani-Kayode writing on his Twitter page on Thursday night, warned that any political party that does not treat Yoruba people with respect, will lose in 2019. He tweeted: “Consider this: any political party that does not treat the Yoruba people with the respect they deserve will lose the Presidency in 2019.U cannot win without substantial Yoruba support. That was the lesson of 2015 and those that have not learnt it will suffer the consequences.” The former Minister has also endorsed Fayose’s ambition to become president in 2019. Fani-Kayode, a Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, declared that no “force could stop Fayose from becoming the next president of Nigeria.” The PDP Chieftain made the remark at Fayose’s presiden

Man Who Impregnated His Sister-In-Law Find Out That Another Man Impregnated His Wife

Image
This story actually sounds as a series in Telemundo or Zeeworld but I can assure you, it is not. This is real and I should add, it the real twist of fate. An Igando Customary Court in Lagos on Thursday dissolved a 12-year-old marriage between one Francis Stephen,45, and his wife, Ogechi,36, over impregnation of sister-in-law. The President of the Court, Mr Adegboye Omilola, said the court had no choice, but to dissolve the union as the petitioner (wife) insisted on divorce in spite of its mediation and family members’ intervention. “Since the petitioner insisted on divorce after several interventions, the court has no choice than to dissolve the union in spite of the fact that the husband still claims he loves his wife. “The court pronounced the marriage between Mrs Ogechi Stephen and Mr Francis Stephen dissolved today; both parties henceforth, cease to be husband and wife. “Both parties are free to go their separate ways without any hindrances or molestation,” the president said

South-East Governors Only Banned IPOB, We Didn't Declare It a Terrorist Organisation - Gov. Ikpeazu

Image
Okezie Ikeazu, governor of Abia state, says it is up to the Buhari-led federal government to defend its decision to brand the Nnamdi Kanu-led IPOB a terrorist organisation. While speaking in an interview with The Osasu Show, the governor of Abia state,Okezie Ikeazu, said that south-east governors only proscribed the activities of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) to douse tension in the region, and never declared it a terroist group. Ikpeazu who said it is up to the federal government to defend the decision to brand IPOB a terrorist organisation, added that labelling the group a terrorist organisation has far-reaching consequences. He said; “Put the action of the south-east governors within context. It became expedient for the south-east governors to look at their mandate. “My mandate as a governor is to secure life and property of not only Abians but everybody that is doing business within the geographical space called Abia. “So at that time, I should protect even tho

According to him, the people of Catalan in Spain have not been called terrorists, despite insisting on a referendum. Fani-Kayode tweeted: “The people of Catalan in Spain are insisting on a referendum. Their leader says he will declare independence if the “yes” vote wins. The Spanish govt. refuses to recognise the process but they have NOT called the people of Catalan terrorists or sent in the army. LEARN FROM THIS!” The Federal Government has gazetted the order of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which proscribed the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and declared it a terrorist group. All The Bad Things That Happened To Nigeria Under My Presidency Was Advised By Okorcha – Obasanjo Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has jocularly blamed Rochas Okorocha, governor of Imo state, for “all the bad things” that happened to the country during his tenure. Obasanjo was Nigeria’s president between 1999 and 2007. Speaking in Owerri, Imo state capital, at the graduation ceremony of students of Rochas Foundation, Obasanjo said the worst advice he got while in office was from Okorocha, one of his then advisers. “As you may all know, Rochas was one of the advisers I had when I was president,” he said. “All the bad things that happened to this country under my presidency was advised by Rochas Okorcha.” The former president, however, extolled the qualities of the governor who he said never ceases to surprise him. “He (Okorocha) has never stopped to surprise me. Planned Exit Of 90 World Organizations: Buhari Administration Is Dangerously Taking Nigeria To North Korean Path And Int’l Isolationism

Image
Onitsha Nigeria: 29th September 2017)-The Nigeria’s Federal Government led by Retired Major General Muhammadu Buhari and Prof Yemi Osinbajo is dangerously taking the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the entire People of the Republic into international isolationism and secret State. The Republic of North Korea is the most notorious country in the world with international and regional isolationism. North Korea is also world’s most secret State; hanging only on its nuke terror power; but damagingly hit and haunted by self imposed intractable mass poverty and triple digit under-development and modern backwardness. Others such as the Islamic Republic of Iran and Socialist Republic of Cuba have recently emerged from throes of their self-imposed isolationism and attendant hash socio-economic and political consequences. Their road to hybrid recovery is still shaky and traumatic. Wikipedia the Free Encyclopedia simply defines Isolationism as a category of foreign policies institutionalized

His role, according to the video, was to get him to mobilise the “Niger Delta combatants” feared to harbour favourable sentiments for the IPOB and who would fight on the side of the group seeking to break Nigeria, in the case of an outbreak of a war. He must do this, according to him on the pain of arrest and death, should he refuse the offer, because th

Arewa youths’ quit notice: Leave North now – Lawyers warn Igbos

Concerned lawyers in Onitsha, Anambra state have advised Igbo living in the North to adhere to the quit notice earlier issued by the Northern youth coalition. The lawyers, led by Barr. Samuel Okechukwu, told newsmen in Onitsha, that Igbo people in the region should return home before October 1 whether the threat to their lives will be carried out or not. Others at the briefing were Messrs Chukwukelu, Ben Okoko and Maurice Efobi. The lawyers noted that there are comfortable homes in Igbo land that will accommodate sons and daughters of Ndigbo. They insisted that returning home was better than being in a land where their lives were subjected to risk. According to them, “threat of such nature which borders on the national security, lives and properties of free citizens of the country ought not to be taken for granted.” They further warned that Ndigbo must not allow events of 1966 to repeat.

Obasanjo speaks on Biafra, slams Buhari

The ex-soldier in an interview with a Liberian-based news portal, AfricanArgument, said the agitators don’t event know what the struggle was all about. “The protesters don’t even know what the struggle is all about, but if it gives them false hope, why not hang onto it? Let the elders handle it or ignore it until it loses momentum. “There are elders in any community who are still respected…After all, they’re their fathers and mothers, grandfathers and grandmothers, and can still be used effectively,” he said. On federalism, Obasanjo said he does not believe in it and that those talking about devaluation and true federalism don’t know what they were talking about. “I don’t believe in true federalism. What is true federalism? Why are they not accountable? What powers do they not have? Obas

He said: “It is becoming obvious that for the nation to survive the critical moments it is passing through, every well-meaning Nigerian must align with the well-intentioned position of President Buhari to build a cohesive, undivided and peaceful country set along the paths of keeping one, strong and united Nigeria. “The imperative is what the committee seeks to achieve through our present engagement and responsibility; and

IPOB to Buhari: Tell us what you did to Kanu

The Indigenous people of Biafra (IPOB) has insisted that President Muhammadu Buhari should tell her what he did with its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, if he (Kanu) was no longer alive. The group had since an alleged attack on Kanu’s home on 14th September declared Kanu and his parents missing, insisting that they were abducted by soldiers who invaded his compound on the order of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen Tukur Buratai. IPOB said it fears that its leader and his parents may have been harmed while in the custody of the Nigerian Army. A press release made available to newsmen by the publicity secretary of IPOB, Mr Emma Powerful called the urgent attention of the United Nations to prevail on President Buhari and Lt. Gen.
