SDP faction endorses Atiku for presidency

Social Democratic Party (SDP) has called on its members and other electorate to vote en masse on Saturday for its adopted presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). A factional Chairman of the party, Chief Supo Shonibare, made the call at a news briefing after the faction’s National Working Committee meeting on Wednesday, in Abuja. The Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has pleaded with the Imo State Commissioner of Police, Dazuki Galadanchi, to disclose the location of the bodies of its members said to have been killed in a recent clash with security forces in the state. Speaking to newsmen yesterday, counsel to IPOB, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, claimed that the police had killed five of their members during the clash and arrested about 15 of them. He accused the police of taking away the bodies of the said members to an unknown destination. Ejiofor said: “We have a confirmed report that some members of IPOB were killed by the police of the anti-robbery squad in Imo state. “Also many were arrested on account we cannot explain. FG protests inhuman treatment, as Ghana deports 723 Nigerians

The Nigerian High Commissioner to Ghana , Ambassador Michael Abikoye , has protested the inhuman treatment of Nigerians by the Ghana Immigration Service with the deportation of 723 Nigerians between 2018 and 2019 . Abikoye said this at a meeting between him and the Comptroller -General of the GIS , Kwame Takyi, in Ghana, the News Agency of Nigeria reports. The high commissioner said 723 Nigerians were deported on alleged illegal stay, cybercrime and prostitution between January 2018 and January 2019 . According to him , 81 Nigerians were deported on alleged cybercrime and illegal stay in January , while 115 have so far been deported on the allegation of overstay and prostitution . INEC Chairman Disagrees With Buhari Over ‘Death’ Penalty For Ballot Box Snatchers

The Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has disagreed with President Muhammadu Buhari over his statement that ballot box snatchers in the forthcoming elections should pay with their lives. President Buhari had at a national caucus meeting of his party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), on Monday, said ballot box snatchers risk losing their lives as he has instructed the military and police to ruthlessly deal with culprits in the coming elections.
