Governor Okorocha: Renamed Eke Ukwu Owerri market after who died during the demolition of the Owerri ancestral market.

The Imo State Government has renamed Eke Ukwu Owerri market and Douglas road after a boy identified as Somtochukwu Ibeanusi who died during the demolition of the Owerri ancestral market.

Governor Rochas Okorocha announced this while addressing the leaders of Owerri who visited him at Government House.

They were asking for the preservation of Ekeukwu Owerri which they described as their collective identity.

Governor Okorocha explained that since the boy died within the period when the demolition was ongoing, he should be immortalized.
