Nwodo predicts uncontrollable crisis if …

President of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, on Friday hinted on some of the benefits Nigeria stands to gain if the country is restructured and warned of impending uncontrollable crisis in an event the demands for the devolution of power is not heeded to.

The president of Igbo apex organization stated this when he spoke in Abuja durin a live political program on African Independent Television (AIT).

“Unless we restructure this country, we will slide into an uncontrollable crisis,” he said, noting that Nigeria has all it takes to become a world power given its growing population. He however said that cannot be if the country fails to put in place the right administrative structure that will enable that.

He said, “Nigeria is a world power, but if it continues to be wrongly administered it will continue to be a laughing stock”

Nwodo, at the occasion also emphasized on the view he has always held and expressed, that Ndigbo remains the most marginalised in the country irrespective of their commitment to the nation. According to him, the body politics in Nigeria has continued to be insensitive to the travails of Ndigbo.

On how the country should be restructured, he advised a revisit to the 2014 National Conference which had Nigerians from all sectors and headed by a former Chief Justice of Nigeria.

On some of the benefits the country stands to gain with restructuring, Nwodo cited the Netherlands and California both of which built their strong economies out of agriculture and human capital development.

He insisted that restructuring the country was the best way for the country to attain quick economic growth.
