A Catholic archbishop has asked the president to prove to Nigerians that he is not shielding his corrupt associates
He also said all corruption Nigerians must be investigated irrespective of the affiliation to anybody including the president
A catholic archbishop has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to intensify his effort in the fight against corruption.
The Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Most Reverend Alfred Adewale, said President Buhari must prove to Nigerians that he is not covering up corruption allegations against his friends and associates.
Adewale speaking to journalists at the Holy Cross Cathedral, Lagos, while marking the centenary of the Fatima Apparitions and closing ceremony of Marian Year celebration on Thursday, October 19, said Nigeria under the present administration is like a sheep without a shepherd.
He called on the president to reciprocate the goodwill of Nigerians who generously voted him into power by delivery the promised change.
He said it is important that the President Buhari-led administration investigate all cases of corruption to a conclusion irrespective of who is involved.
Adewale said: “The onus is now on President Buhari to prove to the entire world that he is sincere about the war against corruption and not covering reports of corruption allegations against people perceived to be close to him.
“The economy of the nation is yet to find steady growth, there are agitations all over the nation calling for change in the mode of governance," he added.
