2019: APC in trouble if Buhari does not contest – Senator Izunaso

The National Organising Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator Osita Izunaso, has said there would be trouble in the party if President Muhammadu Buhari declines to seek a second term in office.

In an interview with This Day on Monday, Izunaso explained that the political intrigues that would follow Buhari’s refusal, might cause APC to lose next year.

“It would not be in the interest of the party and Nigeria for President Buhari not to run.

“The consequence would be unimaginable as all the big wigs that have been hibernating would come out and fight to the finish,” he said.

Izunaso also called on the president to officially declare his intention to run.

According to him, “President Buhari should come out and run. If he declares today that he would run, it would be a popular decision and it would unite the party and galvanise it into action.”
