IPOB, MASSOB leaders apologise over disruption of Igbo leaders meeting

Enugu – The leaderships of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and the Movement for the Sovereign State of Biafra, MASSOB, have apologized to the leaders of the Eastern Consultative Assembly, ECA, over the disruption of their programme in Enugu, Tuesday.
Reliable sources told Vanguard in Enugu Wednesday that both IPOB and MASSOB leaders made separate telephone calls to the convener of the ECA meeting where the issue of restructuring of the country was to be discussed, with the awards to prominent eastern leaders as highlight of the occasion.

Among Igbo leaders who were to receive posthumous awards during the aborted meeting included late first President of Nigeria, Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, late Margret Ekpo, Chief Sam Mbakwe and Col Philip Effiong.
Eminent Constitutional lawyer and Chairman of the Igbo Leaders of Thought, ILT, Prof Ben Nwabueze was also among the awardees.

However, the leaders of the two Biafran organisations were said to have apologised profusely to the Secretary of ECA, Evangelist Elliot Ugochukwu- Uko, over the incident, promising that such would never happen again.
“They felt bad that people like Prof Nwabueze, Maria Okwor and Ugochukwu- Uko, who had been giving them advice on how to go about their agitations in a peaceful manner were embarrassed.

“They even offered to take a local cow to Prof Nwabueze over the embarrassment,” he got from the Biafran agitators at the hall…, the sources added, pointing out that Nwabueze had already forgiven them as he did not take the issue seriously and left his base in Lagos.
