Imo State, Senator Ifeanyi Araraume, has condemned the assault on Archbishop Anthony Obinna of the Owerri Catholic Archdiocese by members of his party.

In statement signed by the Director Media/Publicity of the Senator Araraume Destiny Foundation, Chief Kingsley Ufere, he stated that the hoodlums went after the Archbishop during the funeral mass for the burial of late Lolo Ezinne Eziada Juliana Mbata.

He said the hoodlums insulted the Archbishop and even threatened to physically assault him, adding that they made move to grab his microphone.

Ararume said, “We will like to state unequivocally that this act is totally unacceptable, condemnable and reprehensible.

“The person of Archbishop Obinna is a highly respected man of God and a senior citizen of our state. He should be treated with all measures of respect and dignity that he and his office deserve. The organisation also disassociates the ruling party, All Progressives Congress, APC, from this act and action.
