My heartbroken experience inspired my song, Folasade -Praiz
For sensational R&B artiste, Praiz, his award winning single, Folashade, was based on true-life experience.
According to the X3M Records’ singer, who won the Headies award in the Best R&B category, the song was inspired by his last relationship, which got broken. Hear him: “Folasade was inspired by my last relationship. I love to write songs based on true-life experiences. I was heartbroken then. I went into the studio and I started making the beats. I actually produced the song. I just started pouring out words that came to me. I put it out and everybody loved it. It was different and unexpected. I am happy the song got its due acknowledgement.”
Praiz, who refused to talk about who the lady was, said his ex girlfriend knows the song was about her and that he won an award for that song.
“The lady actually knows the song was for her. We don’t talk anymore though. She knows, however, that I won an award for that song,” he stated.
Talking about why he ended the relationship, Praiz said: “I had to cut of ties because it wasn’t helping. Sometimes you try to make things work but it just doesn’t work. You are in a relationship to ensure that peace reigns but you guys still fight over things that don’t make sense. I love to be happy and I don’t need extra drama. I decided it was best I cut off ties. I will not say I am perfect but I am always ready to learn and ready to work on myself.”
On his recent feat at Headies, Praiz said it felt good to win an award again. “After the first Headies that I won, I got a lot of nominations in subsequent editions. There was one I got six nominations and there was another one that I got three nominations. There were some others but I never seemed to win any, in as much as I knew I put in a lot of work. But I didn’t allow it to get to me because I got to a stage in my career, even though I love awards and I would love to win awards, I wouldn’t want awards to be the determining factor to evaluate how good my music is,” he explained.
