Benue attacks: What God will do to those killing us – Ujege
The President General of Mdzough U Tiv, Edward Ujege, has warned that God will fight suspected Fulani herdsmen, who have been attacking and killing people of the state.
Speaking exclusively with DAILY POST, Ujege said the God the Benue people serve is “heavier” than “those with arms” and will rise up and save them.
The elder statesman said this while disclosing how the killings allegedly perpetrated by herdsmen can be stopped permanently.
According to the President General, dialogue between the herdsmen and Benue people remains the only panacea to the persistent killings in the state.
Ujege said, “We don’t have arms and don’t intend to have in Benue State. I think our God is heavier than those with arms, we are telling the government now that we have a God and he will fight for us. We don’t have AK-47, we don’t have the money to buy them.
“Benue people don’t have any means but to depend on God. We know that we will be killed but not everybody. The few remaining and those unborn will continue with this struggle until we find haven for ourselves.
“Anything you do to an individual you need to dialogue. When this issue started, the Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore threatened to mobilised Fulani herdsmen all over the world to come and kill everybody in Benue, that was the wrong thing to do.
“They should have thought of ways to ensure that the law benefits everybody, this rule was not meant against anybody. The laws are made so that farmers can continue to farm and those who have animals which include our people can continue to do their animal business.”
