More trouble for Saraki as Police arrests 5 more Offa Bank robbery Suspects
The Nigerian police force has arrested five more suspects in the Offa Bank robbery incident. Men of the Inspector General Of police Intelligence Response Team (IRT) have arrested five more suspects in connection with the Offa bank robbery of April 5, where over 33, persons including police officers, were killed.
The five suspects were arrested within the week after the IRT stormed the south-western part of the country.
The IRT team moved to Kawara state last week with one of the major suspects, a dismissed police officer, Micheal Adikwu.
Adikwu, who also trained the gang members on how to shoot and use firearms personally confessed to shooting and killing 22 Persons mostly Police personnel at the Station during the robbery.
Sources at the IRT office in Abuja, told Daily Sun, that the dismissed police sergeant led operatives to the locations and hideouts of where the suspects were arrested.
The source who does not want to be mentioned in print was however silent of the investigation so far carried out on response of the senate president Bukola Saraki, on his alleged involvement in the robbery saga.
The police headquarters had, on June 3, invited the Senate President Bukola Saraki, to appear before the Force Intelligence Response Team, in Abuja, following his alleged roles in the criminal activities in Kwara State.
Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, at a media briefing, where he paraded 13 of the arrested suspects, said five prime suspects allegedly implicated Saraki and the Kwara State governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed.
Jimoh, said that said the invitation extended to the Senate President followed confessional statements by five prime suspects to the effect that Saraki and Kwara State governor,Abdulfatah Ahmed, were not only their sponsors but also provided them arms with which they use in their illegal operations in the state.
