Amaechi reveals how politicians kill Nigerians

Amaechi, a former governor of Rivers State said politicians commit manslaughter through corrupt practice, a menace which he said the President Muhammadu Buhari-led government was determined to end. Speaking with Vanguard, the Minister, however, noted that all Nigerians should have access to the country’s treasury and not a few who loot it. He said some politicians loot money meant for the building of hospitals and good roads, thereby causing the death of Nigerians. Saraki calls emergency meeting of National Assembly leaders

The President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has convened a meeting of the leaderships of the two chambers of the National Assembly. The meeting, expected to have in attendance principal officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives, is scheduled to hold Tuesday afternoon. A source who confirmed the meeting to this newspaper said the meeting would touch on pressing national issues seeking the urgent attention of the National Assembly. The officials are expected to meet for one hour beginning at noon. The source added that the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, will then meet with the lawmakers at 1 p.m. Issues expected to be on the agenda of the meeting include the string of defections in the political space, the rumoured plan to impeach Mr. Saraki and the pending 2019 elections supplementary budget, among others. Pastor Adeboye speaks on handing over to Bishop Oyedepo as RCCG General Overseer

The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has addressed reports of him planning to hand over leadership of the church to the General Overseer of Winners Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo. Pastor Adeboye, who spoke at the ministers’ conference of the mission on Saturday which held at the Redemption Camp, Mowe, Ogun state, stated that God had not yet revealed to him who his successor would be. He, therefore, warned those spreading rumors of Bishop Oyedepo being his successor, to desist from such act. Breaking: Ex-Nigeria star Amunike hired as Tanzania coach

Tanzania appointed former Nigerian international Emmanuel Amunike as the new national football coach on a two-year contract on Monday. Emmanuel Amunike The 47-year-old former Barcelona winger replaces interim coach Salum Mayanga whose contract expired earlier this year after only one year at the helm. Amunike will lead the Taifa Stars in the qualifiers for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations, starting with the east African derby against Uganda in Kampala on September 7. “I am happy to start this new job and work hard so that we can achieve a lot together,” said Amunike after signing the contract. Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) president Wallace Karia said Amunike will also handle the Under-17 and Under-20 national teams alongside his duties as national head coach. Man kills lover over condom

IN another crime of passion, a 38-year-old mother of three, Madam Gladys Okoh has been brutally hacked to death in Benin by her jealous lover after he reportedly found male condoms inside her handbag. The suspect, Mr Osaremwinda Omobude Idumwonyi, 46 was said to have been enraged after the discovery and promptly accused the divorcee of two-timing. The latest murder brings to three the body counts of young women killed by their green-eyed lovers in the last three weeks- in the Edo state capital and comes on the heels of the stabbing to death of an 18-year-old girl by her 19-year-old boy over an allegation of infidelity. Also recently, two other men had killed their lovers for engaging in the sizzling romance with other men. World Bank earmarks N70m for infrastructural development in Enugu community

ENUGU – SEVEN communities in Enugu State have benefited N70 million naira from World Bank for infrastructural development.a The General Manager of Enugu State Community and Social Development Projects, CSDP, Dr Maximus Asogwa who made this known while addressing journalists Monrday after the formal presentation of first tranche of 30 percent of the total fund to Leaders of each of the seven benefitting communities, said the projects included an extension of electricity, rehabilitation of roads/bridges, construction of classroom /Principal office blocks, boreholes, market and civic centres. The CSDP boss at the end of the four- day tour of the communities, explained that the projects are community driven, listing the lucky communities as Ameke- Oduma, Amanasato-Oduma both in Aninri Local Government Area of the State.
